I know I already shared a post about this so I could post a finish for November OMG, but the Evening Star quilt top is complete. YAHOO! It really was an easy quilt to put together, and I would definitely make it again. In case you missed it, here is a picture again.
I was discussing making this quilt again with Peggy Cooper, who got me hooked on stars. We both like the secondary pattern that was formed between the rows. The diamonds and squares are cool looking, but I think they distract from the stars of the show. Those stars! So I am thinking of making this again and next time adding sashing around each block. It will be fun to compare the two. I’d better get busy on those nine patches! Some fabrics I don’t even have any more of so they will be slightly different.

The January table runner is slowly coming along. It really wasn’t on my radar, and I kind of forgot that we selected January way back in September. And here we are . . . just a few short weeks until it is needed. Oops! So, these little gems are being appliquéd so they will make up a cute border. Stay tuned for more about this project as it progresses.

I did also start appliquéing the nautical theme items for Darlene’s pillow shams this week. Since it is my December OMG (one monthly goal), I have to stay on task in order to get it complete. Here is a peek:
Extra:
Nothing extra was accomplished this week as far as sewing goes. We got the decorations up all around the house and that’s about it.
December OMG Goal:
- Complete the appliqué of the nautical pieces for both pillow shams
To-Do December 4th through 10th:
- Continue working on January table runner
- Start quilting one quilt flimsy of the three that are waiting for me!

How funny! I’ve been doing Monday Goals for ages, and never knew about this other group doing it, too! You have some great projects for the week.
Hi Susan,
I am 100% sure you could post on Christine’s to-do linky party. Her’s is actually on Tuesday (to-do Tuesday) but it works better for me to have the week start on Monday. Check it out next week! ~smile~ Roseanne
Oh, wow, I absolutely love how your Evening Star quilt turned out! It’s funny, I didn’t even see the secondary pattern until you mentioned it. Those stars really got my attention! Have fun with the second top, I think it would look amazing having the blocks sashed! I
Hi Christine,
It may be a while before I get to that second top – I have to collect the nine-patches again. ~smile~ Roseanne
U rah rah! Yeah! Do you feel like the little engine that could? You can do it! You can do it! 🙂
HAHA Cindy! Yes indeed, especially with friends cheering me on like that. I can do it, I can do it. ~smile~ Roseanne
Chug-a, chug-a, chug-a, chug-a choo choo! 🙂 🙂 Thought I would help you out!
Hey, I really like those appliqued squares on the black – what a nice, vibrant pop. And that background fabric on the stars for the nautical shams is really superb.
Hi Lynette,
I am having fun appliquéing those little squares! No pressure to get them done really, other than January is quickly approaching. Isn’t that shiplap fabric just perfect?!! I am so glad someone pointed me in that direction to find it. ~smile~ Roseanne
I wonder…if the stars were a darker color and the diamonds & squares a lighter color the focus might be more on the stars. Now I’m curious and may have to draw this in EQ8 just to see how the color change would affect it. Hmm… 🙂
Hi Beth,
That is so funny you say that, because that is how I intended to sew it! I messed up on the first block and thought I would leave it that way. Now I’m curious myself and have been intending to get EQ8. ~smile~ Roseanne
Can’t wait to see what you do with your table runner.
Hi Peggy!
Thanks! It’s all snowmen (which makes me think of Vicki in MN). It may or may not be ready for January . . . I’m not making any promises. ~smile~ Roseanne
Don’t stress, it is the time of the year to be jolly. 🙂 I know it will be beautiful whenever you complete it.
Yes would be lovely to see the Evening star with sashing around it as well as this one which is so pretty as well. All the best for the coming week’s goals.
Hi Kathryn,
Thanks – same to you. If I recall, your list is much more extensive than mine. ~smile~ Roseanne
