Cubs Clark Quilt Finished
The Cub’s Clark quilt is finished and back from the quilters. It is a queen size quilt so it is just too much for me to quilt on my home machine. Well, that is not quite true. I probably could have done it, but not with the special stitch we chose . . .
Here are a few pictures of the quilt in the various stages. Once the center appliqué portion was complete, it came together quickly. We added white sashing and Cubs cornerstone squares to frame the star, Clark.
Clark in Progress
We used Wonder Under on the back of Clark. He is constructed in four layers: first the white C, then the red C was added. After both were appliquéd the white one-piece outline of Clark was ironed and also appliquéd. Finally, the navy pieces were added along with the small white accent pieces. The smallest pieces were only sewed down as they are too small for appliqué.
Checking Clark’s Size
Here is the quilt top before it was quilted. We asked Corner to Corner if they would use a baseball-shaped pattern for this flimsy. Since the borders are all wide – between 8 – 10 inches, we knew that baseballs would really stand out well. We chose a red thread, and the backing is a shade of blue as well. Here is the binding being sewn on using Ellie, our new sewing machine:
Without further adieu, here is the Cubs Clark quilt:

Up next is giving it to our nephew William. We hope he likes it!

I am pretty sure your nephew is going to treasure Clark because this Cubs fan loves the quilt. Great job! I have some Cubs fabric in my stash just waiting for my friend’s son and wife (who are die-hard Cub fans) to have a little cubby. Thanks for the share and inspiration.
Hi Rose! We are giving the quilt to William today, so I’ll hopefully have a picture to share soon. He’d better love it! Clark gave us a few challenges but he is worth it! Thank you for your sweet comment and visit. ~smile~ Roseanne
So cute and I love the quilting with the baseball design. Good idea.
Hi Peggy! We are giving it to him tomorrow so hopefully he will like it as much as we do. ~smile~ Roseanne
I’m sure he will.
