Weekly To-Do List #29 – No Fail This Week!

This is our 29th edition of our weekly to-do list.  I love checking things off this list even when it is extremely short and this week HAS to be better than last week, right?!  I gave ourselves a rather short list, I see.

To-Do Tuesday for the week October 23rd through 29th:

  1. Sew block #17 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL – √ done
  2. Special order quilt – √ done

#1

The layout for Pat Sloan’s Grandma’s Kitchen quilt along was released last week instead of block #17.  I don’t know yet if we will follow her layout.  Since we had a short deadline for item number two on our list, we’ll deal with the layout when all the blocks are complete.  The new block is called Pantry Goods, and it is another 10.5″ unfinished block.  I do not see the name of the block in this layout, but here is our block:

#2

Both princess quilts have to be received for the twin’s birthday on November 5th.  I want to send them early so they are received with plenty of time for our customer.  Saturday evening I sewed on the binding, and Sue started tacking it down by hand.  Finally that was complete and both quilts were washed and ready to go.  Yippee skippy!  I will list the second quilt on Etsy – maybe I can mail them out on Monday.  Here is a shot of the second princess quilt:

Extra:

Since the pressure is off for item #2, we are back on the microwave cozy making train.  It is so much faster now that they don’t need to be marked individually:

October OMG Goal:

  • The deadline for Evening Star is in two days . . . sadly we are not making this goal.  But we can try again in November!

To-Do October 30th through November 5th:

  1. Sew block #18 in the Grandma’s Kitchen QAL
  2. Block #9 in I Wish You a Merry QAL (Rudolph)
  3. Finish six microwave cozies
  4. Select a cross stitch pattern for the Christmas stocking
  5. Continue the Evening Star project (new November OMG)

Neat lazer light. That must save a lot of time not having to mark. How great that you got your quilt completed and off in time. Like you, I didn’t not meet my October OMG but hoping November will be better – better planned on my part!

      Hi Sharon,
I agree – better planned on my part certainly! And enough fabric to start so that is even better. Sounds like success for both of us! And the laser light really has saved a LOT of marking time for me. ~smile~ Roseanne

Sometimes those short lists are just so sweet on a busy week! And it’s always nice when you can add an extra item later! I love the princess quilt; those hearts are just so perfect!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Christine,
Thanks so much! The hearts were actually easier to make on the second quilt. All around, the second quilt is better (but don’t tell the customer). ~smile~ Roseanne

Oh, I love that block, the colors are so sweet! And, I need that laser light!!!

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Chris,
The laser light has made so many things easier! I really give kudos to Laura @ Slice of Pi for coming up with it. It really has saved me a lot of time, and it only cost $6 or less. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love the princess quilt. I like your colours in the Pantry block. I for sure am making my own layout for GK quilt.

    • Roseanne says:

      Kathryn,
That will be fun to figure out the layout based on the fabric and color choices we made for our blocks. Right?! I can’t wait to see this all wrapped up and finished. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Love the use of the stripe fabric on your Grandma’s Kitchen block and the princess quilt is adorable. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY FRIEND.

    • Roseanne says:

      Hi Peggy!
Ahh, thanks so much. I am SO blessed with family and friends wishing me well. It is just the best day. The quilt is off in the mail tonight after work. Yippee! ~smile~ Roseanne

  7. Preeti says:

Very pretty princess quilt. Wishing you all the best in your goals.

  8. Roseanne, 👍👍 on the commissioned quilt finish! You rock! I have a commissioned quilt waiting for its turn at my long arm and binding as well as two customer Quilts awaiting waiting quilting. I really want to get them done this week so I can have a clear conscience about working on my own items. Shall be a challenge because of the other items already on my schedule but we shall see. I really like how your Pantry Goods block turned out. You really make them look so nice with your fabric choices. I’m sure the layout you choose will make your blocks look even more spectacular! 🤓
