Update on Grandma’s Kitchen (GK) Quilt Along
We’ve made five blocks in Pat Sloan’s Grandma’s Kitchen (GK) quilt along. We are now 20 or 25 percent finished! If you aren’t playing with us, it’s not too late. Five blocks . . . you can easily catch up . . . especially with the so many other blocks yet to make. We will finish all the blocks right before Thanksgiving as a mystery lap size quilt. Just in time to finish up for snuggle season, or maybe even a Christmas gift.
I didn’t know my grandmothers – they were both gone before I was born or could meet them. I suspect I would have learned a lot from my dad’s mother. She raised seven boys and two daughters. My dad was the oldest. The farmhouse had a HUGE kitchen table. I can just imagine her making bread, pies, and every meal there. Just the opposite, my mom’s mother raised seven girls and two boys. My mom was also the oldest. Sue’s grandmother on her mom’s side was named Ruby. She made THE best meatloaf. ~smile~
GK Block #1 – The Kitchen Table

This is my favorite block
I love this block – I want to make a whole quilt of this one. That’s going on the list!
GK Block #2 – Sticky Buns

Sue isn’t sure she likes this one – we will see
GK Block #3 – Key Holder
GK Block #4 – Half a Modern (Kitchen)

I took this picture upside down so I had to rotate it – that’s why it looks odd
GK Block #5 – Glasses and Cups

This one took us a LONG time to figure out the fabrics
I think I like block #4 and #5 together. They both have similar four patches in the center:
I am looking forward to seeing how this quilt top comes together. Twenty more blocks to go . . . I can’t quite figure out how 25 – 12.5″ blocks can make a lap size quilt. Maybe block #2 will not be used at all. We will see!
