Tutorial Ship Shape Quilt in Different Sizes

This is the perfect quilt to follow the Regatta sew along since we just recently shared a final recap post.  It’s called Ship Shape by Alice Kennedy and Lucy Fazely.

Ship Shapely Sizes

The tutorial shares several different sizes from lap to king.  One of my favorite parts of this quilt are the fabric choices as I’m really drawn to the royal blue background.  Having recently cruised, I can just picture this color of water in the Atlantic between New York and Canada.  You could be quite creative with your fabric choices for the sails, and this has the potential to be a real stash buster.  I love that this pattern has two different sizes of boats and sails.

Ship Fabric Details

This pattern is very fat quarter friendly for both the lap and twin size quilt.  Yardage is needed for the background and of course the backing.  Cutting instructions are fairly detailed for each separate size.  A different colorway may easily be utilized, and I could totally see this in teals like the color of water in the Caribbean.  The tutorial also shares good instructions for the different size layouts.  I don’t know if we’ll make this quilt anytime soon, but you just never know.  Have I tempted you into adding it to your make-soon list?

I would have to find a brilliant aqua to represent the sea in the Bahamas!

I do like this pattern and it will go on my to do list. It may stay there awhile but you never know!

  7. I love little sailboats on a quilt, but I have to put this on my someday list. I need to keep working on my UFOs and my Up From Here (which I haven’t started)!

Have you tempted me…OF COURSE YOU HAVE! Your quilty choices always tempt me. At this point, if I live to be 100 (assuming I can still sit at my machine and have my wits about me) I will not even come close to completing my list! But I suspect it is always better to have too many things on the list than to be wanting, hey?
