Tutorial – Regatta Quilt – Jelly Roll Friendly
I get an daily email from Pinterest with suggestions for topics and/or Pins they think I might like. Recently, I received a suggestion to check out the Regatta quilt by Daniela at Block M Quilts. I did check it out, as I thought it was very share-worthy. Daniela finished this quilt back in 2014 and it is her most pinned and most popular post. I can see why! It is another jelly roll friendly quilt.
Jelly Roll Regatta Quilt
The simplicity of this quilt speaks for itself. The color gradation from dark to light to medium blue is just so calming and pleasing to the eye. The white adds a crispness – there’s nothing like blue and white. Just beautiful yet easy for any quilter, even beginners. It would be stunning in just one color or scrappy – it’s up to you.
I like the secondary pattern the little white squares make. The finished size is 57″ x 74″ which is a very generous size. That would actually be perfect for a Youth size bed! She uses 19 different jelly roll strips, 2 of each color. You can see where this could easily be sized done to use only 1 jelly roll strip of 19 different colors or patterns. I always look for ways to make cute baby quilts. ~smile~
Jelly Roll Quilting
Of special note is Daniela’s choice for quilting. She did a wavy line which is easily achieved from a domestic sewing machine. No need to long-arm quilt this one. I have used this stitch a few times myself, like in the Finding Nemo quilt. Daniela also includes a blank coloring chart to fill in your own colors if you would like to audition different palates. What do you think? Is this a pattern you would like to make yourself? Have I peeked your interest?

I’m having a hard time finding the pattern. Do you have another link I could use?
Hi Roseanne, thank you so much for sharing my Regatta Quilt! I’m happy that you and so many others love this quilt so much!
Hi Daniela,
I am SO happy you found us and are feeling the love of your quilt and pattern. I think we will have a fun sew-along and end up with a beautiful quilt when we are finished. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, I printed it! 🤓
Nice! So doable!! ~smile~ Roseanne
😎👍👍
BTW….11/16/17 is our big announcement for the QAL! 😊
I’ve been patiently waiting – I haven’t even been whining or anything. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, good girl! 🤓
Roseanne, So simple yet so striking. I think it would be a great candidate for a scrappy project. Great chance to use up some of those left over strips. I could see myself making one for each of my grandchildren…..that would be 19 x 5 = 95 strips plus the added white fabric. That’s doable. I think I will have to check out the pattern. ♥️😊
Hi Cindy! I am are going to be throwing an informal sew along for this pattern – maybe you want to join us? I’ll post about it soon. ~smile~ Roseanne
Roseanne, ooooooh that sounds cool! I’ll be watching! You bet I do! 👏
Yeehaw! We’ll have fun 🙂
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oooh, I like this. Love the different colors in the same color family. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Peggy! Let’s make, ‘k? You pick a color and I’ll pick a color and then we’ll ooh and ahh over them. ~smile~ Roseanne
Sounds good to me. I have a couple of projects to get out of the way before Thanksgiving (gifts) and then I will start. Can’t wait to see yours.
How about for the New Year? I have no idea what I have to get done yet . . . HAHA! I haven’t gotten that far on my list yet. ~smile~ Roseanne
Sounds good. Wondering if the quilt would lose it’s dramatic effect if using rainbow colors instead of a color family? I guess it is time to get out the colored pencils. 🙂
I know – I’ve been thinking about this all night! I’m writing an article to get some other folks to join us maybe . . . hmmmmm. So many choices! ~smile~ Roseanne
That would be great. I love getting input and other ideas. It is amazing what quilters come up with.
Beautiful quilt! That would definitely make a quick and easy baby quilt!
Hi Connie,
It’s just a little different than the usual jelly roll quickie quilt that I’ve seen before. ~smile~ Roseanne
I’m going to check out this quilt! Looks fast and easy. Thanks!
Hi Shannon,
I hope you do make one – I would love to see what colors you decide to use. ~smile~ Roseanne
