Tutorial – Moda Love Quilt
Today I’m sharing a tutorial called Moda Love from April Rosenthal. I don’t imagine that there are many quilters that haven’t used Moda fabrics, and if you’ve used them you love them. April made the quilt with her at-that-time new fabric line called Best.Day.Ever! That is just the best name for a fabric line.
As you can see from the picture above, the center is a star. This quilt is a square design. April shares a .pdf pattern in the link above in three different sizes: 72 x 72, 32 x 32, and 12 x 12. Each of these sizes uses a precut – layer cake, charm pack, and mini-charm respectively.
First, you must select the size quilt you wish to make. After that, it is then time to make a few half-square triangles. The best part is that you only need 36 of them! Here is a closeup of the layout.

A Pretty Reason for Moda Love
I’m sure you can see it would be simple to make the quilt bigger by adding a row of the background fabrics all around. That would not solve the squareness issue. Here is a shot of the center square, the quilting, and a closeup of the fabrics:
Look at all that quilty goodness, and the colors she used – does it make you want one of your own?! I know there are several of you who do not like square quilts (like me). Would you be willing to share any ideas you have for making this quilt and un-squaring it in the comments below? I think this might just be one that baby Dominic needs.
