Tutorial – Changing Gears for Spring

Here’s a little tutorial we’re sharing today that is just perfect for the start of Spring.  Those of us in the northern hemisphere, especially in the northern states, have been anxiously awaiting some warmer temperatures.  This cute biking tutorial called Changing Gears is shared from Windham Fabrics.

Isn’t this cute?!  I love the border fabric of bicycles, and the flower-shaped spokes of each wheel.  I would have loved to have this bike when I was younger.  Or even now as it sure does make me smile.

Appliqué Changing Gears

This is an appliqué pattern for the most part, using fusible webbing.  It will finish at 46″ x 35″.  The pattern gives great details on the fabric requirements as well as the individual bicycle pieces to trace.  You will need to enlarge the pattern pieces to 400% when printing.  Here is the layout the pattern shares for all the bike pieces:

I have two coworkers that are biking enthusiasts and I think they would very much enjoy these as wall hangings.  The fun and creative part will be finding and selecting the fabrics for the bike frame and the flower spokes.  If I were making this for a child I might improvise some streamers hanging down from the handlebars.  I might even add the gears box although I never had a fancy bike so maybe not!

Don’t you think this fun short tutorial just screams Spring?  Will you be making one for yourself or a special friend?  Happy Spring.

  5. Oh my goodness! I have never seen a bicycle quilt that is so creative and cute! The spikes are quite the eye catcher, which is way better than a finger catcher:). I feel soring👍🏻😊

I love it! It is so sweet and very springy. Spring is coming so slowly this year.
