To-Do Tuesday Linky #9 & Weekly Progress Update

This is the 130th edition of the weekly to-do list and the ninth post as a linky party here on our website.  Thanks to everyone who joined us last week.

To-Do for the week of October 1st through 7th:

  1. Pick up the squirrel project items ~sigh~ – √ done
  2. Get ready for a new baby wall hanging – √ done

To-Do #1

~Sigh~ just like Addison gives us the huffy breath.  I’ve fallen victim to a squirrel project, one that I was trying to ignore.  Sandra, Chris, and Wendy tempted me first, and I turned my head.  Kathleen made a dinosaur version that cracked through my tough facade.  We’re talking about one of those day bags/backpacks, and it’s for my boss.  Her birthday is on the 20th so I’d better get going.  Thankfully, according to those before me, it is a quick project.  I’m going to add a pocket or two on the lining, but at least all the supplies are in the house now.

Butterfly fabric instead of the bicycle fabric I know we have somewhere in this house, parachute cording, and WHITE grommets in a kit. Because we can’t find the silver kit we bought the last time I used grommets.  Back in 1950.  Not really but it was a long time ago.  I don’t even know why I make something for my boss . . . she isn’t at all effusive over anything but I keep hoping I’ll stumble onto something she actually likes.  Someday.

To-Do #2

A new baby girl was just born a wee bit early.  She was due on October 1st but she decided to come sooner.  Her name is Fiona, and she and her momma are doing well.  Fiona joins her brothers Forrest, Franklin, and Fox.  Those three boys are ready to spoil her and I imagine they have yet to learn how much their world has changed with her arrival.  Soon enough she’ll rule the roost if she doesn’t already with getting her schedule set.  Sue verified the spelling and details like that, and now we’ll be making a wall hanging for her.  It’s time for me to appliqué these letters; then we’ll layer it and quilt it up.  Lovey the llama will also be wrapped up, too, finally.

Fiona Welcome

October OMG

For our October OMG, we’ll be making the aforementioned day pack or backpack for Catherine.  Thanks to Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website and her linky party for motivating us each month.

To-Do for the week of October 8th through 14th

  1. Appliqué Fiona and maybe even quilt it
  2. Pull fabrics for October’s block of the month
  3. Quilt Lovey the Llama

Hey Rosanne – you just keep doing the right and kind thing for your boss, regardless of her enthusiasm level. Your gesture is from the heart and as I like to say, You NEVER go wrong by doing right!

  3. The squirrels have been unusually quiet here, as has my quilting. Glad you have a fun little squirrel in your quilt room. Looking forward to seeing the finish!

  4. Squirrel projects are usually my favorites to work on! I think your boss is going to love her backpack, Roseanne!

  5. Yay! Two for two ‘dones’!
    🙂

  6. That wall hanging is going to be adorable! Can’t wait to see the letters appliquéd. Have a great day, Mary.

  7. So glad the squirrel is still in the house – wouldn’t want you to get lonely. Good luck on your week’s list!
