To-Do Tuesday Linky #47 & Weekly Progress Update
Join us for the 47th linky party post and the 167th weekly to-do list. Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week. “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off,” wrote Gladys Taber.
To-Do for the week of June 23rd through 29th:
- Go into the office for the first time – √ done
- Continue appliqueing truck blocks – √ done
- Add binding to the Autumn Leaf quilt – √ done
To-Do #1
Back into the office for one day, and I have to say it felt a wee bit odd. I haven’t returned since I left on March 16th, taking only a few file folders with me. Never in my wildest dreams did I really believe it would be over three months before I had a temporary return. It’s too early to say what this Fall and the new school year will look like, but I have mixed emotions and anxiety. I miss my work peeps and routines but I value good health and don’t want to get the virus or carry/pass it on.
I got a whole lot of work completed – things that I just couldn’t do from home. New hires processed, evaluations filed, and my boss and I broke the postage machine – it takes a true knack to accomplish that! I may be going back now and then in July as well but only for things that cannot be accomplished online (from home).
To-Do #2
Sure enough, appliqueing the 15 blocks needed for Dominic’s big boy bed quilt has begun. We are using all the primary colors along with others to make it bright and happy looking. Here is the reverse side of one of the dump trucks! We are trying to get this to the quilt top stage as a second-quarter finish-along goal . . .
By the end of the weekend (Sunday night), we had a quilt top! Woot woot!
To-Do #3
The Fall autumn leaf baby quilt is finished and it received its own post just yesterday since it was a two-year project. Some after washing, nice and crinkly photos can be shared again here though. You can easily see some of Sue’s leaf motifs.
July OMG
Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her monthly linky party. Patty will open her linky party tomorrow and we need to set a goal for July. It’s also the start of the third quarter! We will have to sew and quilt Iris Ann’s baby quilt based on this inspiration photo because Iris is due to arrive in September.
To-Do for the week of June 30th through July 6th:
- Get fabric selected for Iris Ann’s baby quilt
- Sew the Friendship block for Melva’s sew-along
- Have a happy and safe 4th of July – you do so, too, please!
Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool
- Don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway or promotion for your newest pattern release – I didn’t think I’d have to say this but apparently, I do!
- Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
- Also, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as time allows
You will find the link-ups displayed on a separate screen. I hope you check them out and/or add your own link! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made this week and hopefully finding some inspiration.
The Linky Parties we join can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
I am also loving those trucks and am also going to be looking for a pattern for my grandbabies! Thank you for sharing such a great idea!
Those in the educational field have so much to consider as they return/not to the classroom and offices. I pray for wisdom, protection and fun for all of you and the students! Hugs!
Whoa! You got that truck top together quickly!! All the projects are wonderful.
Hi Roseanne, Good luck with your July projects. The trucks and the Autumn leaves quilts are lovely!
Wow! Dominic’s truck quilt is awesome! It’s inspiration for me as my 2 yr old grandson always has some vehicle in his hand, truck, car, train engine. I’m to make a quilt for him for his big boy bed – turning 3 in January! I’ve taken photos of his truck & airplane puzzles, collected coloring pages as a starting point.
Those truck blocks are just too much fun! And I love the quilting on the Fall autumn leaves quilt and the lovely crinkly texture. Thanks again for hosting this weekly linky party, Mary.
The truck quilt is awesome! What weird way to end the school year! I hope the path for the fall is clear. Good luck with your plans for the week and here’s wishing you and yours a safe and happy fourth!
The truck quilt is super cute. So glad you got your sewjo back and started making such lovely quilts.
Hello Roseanne, The truck quilt is superb! I need to start looking for a pattern, that is how much I like the one that you and Sue are doing! Plus, I am seriously getting my applique flow back in full force. LOL. I keep telling myself that I have to finish my UFO’s before starting something new. Let’s see how long I can actually last. Hee-Hee-Hee. I will keep you in my prayers for the strength and guidance that you may need with returning to work, as it begins. Like you, I still stay at home as much as possible. Keep sharing your fantastic quilt projects and your life! Have a wonderful day!
That truck quilt is too cute! My boys would have loved it when they were little. We had a truck themed bedroom, numerous truck books and videos, and of course, Tonka trucks! They were in heaven!
Hi,
Great job this week on getting your list checked off. Love the truck
quilt…so cute…have a great day!
My you have been busy!! That truck quilt is marvelous and look what you accomplished so fast. Now, I think I’d be able to break the postage machine, too. Going back to the work place would be so alarming for me and I hope you remain safe and healthy. Have a wonderful 4th of July. No fireworks here…I just hope people practice safe social distancing.
Your trepidation about re-starting in-the-office work is pretty ‘normal’. Sounds like you’re taking care on that and that your co-workers/bosses are supportive of a safe & healthy way to do this.
Take care!
WOW! Your truck quilt is beautiful. Love the colors you chose. So bright and happy. Thanks for sharing.
glad you are still able to do most work from home – I think a lot of people think the virus is gone for some reason but it is increasing a lot still – love Dominic’s quilt
That big boy quilt is SO CUTE! I love it. I hope all goes well with your return to school…the powers that be are still making decisions here. Have a wonderful July 4th!
You were crackin’ right along this past week – yippee! I’m glad your work day seems to have gone pretty well. Glad you can do the majority of your work from home. Chuckling at the broken postage machine – I used to have those talents. . .
Holy cow you really did work your fingers to the bone with the truck quilt=super duper!!
Dominic’s quilt is wonderful, Roseanne! I love all that color and the fun trucks. He’s going to love it!
That truck quilt is so fun! 🙂
WOWSA! Dom will go nuts for that quilt and way to go getting appliqued so quickly! It’s adorable!
We’ve been back in the office for almost 2 months, but the social distancing restrictions still take some getting used too. Congrats on meeting all our goals. Getting all those truck blocks made the quilt assembled is pretty amazing. It’s a very fun quilt. Hope this week is as productive. Enjoy your 4th of July holiday. Be safe and be well.
Dominic’s quilt is beautiful! He’ll love it!!!
Loving the dump trucks.
