To-Do Tuesday Linky #43 & Weekly Progress Update

Happy June! Join us for the 43rd linky party post and the 163rd weekly to-do list.  Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week.  “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off,” wrote Gladys Taber.

To-Do for the week of May 26th through June 1st:

  1. Determine the June OMG project – X
  2. Pick out the fabrics for Iris Ann’s baby quilt – X
  3. Something – anything else! – √ done

To-Do #1 and #2

Nada!  I barely set foot in the sewing room this last week.  The wonky rows are still on the design wall, not even pressed.  I have no ideas for the June OMG project.  We got the color palette for the baby quilt – the peach or pink question turns out to be pink.  I’m still not sure if these are equilateral triangles or not.  Even if we had the fabrics selected this project wouldn’t be moving forward.

To-Do #3

We did ONE thing in the last seven days, though.  Layering the t-shirt quilt was accomplished.  Since the top is larger than our island in both directions it was a huge undertaking.  One quilting line along the tape diagonal line has happened in one direction and that’s it.  Now it’s sitting on my sewing table in a messy heap, and of course, there were no pictures taken!

June OMG

Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her monthly linky party.  We have no idea what to select as our project this month . . . it seems like it might and should be the t-shirt quilt!

To-Do for the week of June 2nd through 8th:

  1. I have no flippin’ idea – I don’t feel like working on anything!
  2. There are no suggestions coming from the peanut gallery either
  3. Decide on an OMG project for June

Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:

  • Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool
  • Don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway or promotion for your newest pattern release – I didn’t think I’d have to say this but apparently, I do!
  • Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
  • Also, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as time allows

This “Peanut Gallery” says, go stash diving and find a long lost UFO that is so close to finishing you can feel it!!! And then completely ignore it and start a new project. LOL!

  2. ‘no flippin’ idea’ and ‘peanut gallery’ I giggled. Thank you.

Oh dear you didn’t have a good week did you, so sorry about that. Just remember it will all happen when you are ready. So many people are struggling right along with you these days. I hope you find your mojo this week. Hang in there.

  4. Hi Roseanne, it sounds like you need a break – less expectations and maybe a really good book? I hope it gets better, but because you have a list, doesn’t mean that you have to work at it all the time….and when there’s no list, it might mean a little bit of playing? Good luck and take care of yourself.

  5. Sorry you are in a rut. I think we need to play an improv game. Are you up for it??? Pick 2 or 3 fabrics that make your heart sing and play – call me in the morning – Dr McCormick’s prescription! No reason, no goal. I will do the same before the end of the week!

    Hi Roseanne,
I’m concerned about you and Sue! This is very strange for you two!

Anyhow … here’s my Peanut gallery comments:
    1. Walk into your sewing room (sewing area / studio – whatever you call it)
    2. Sit down at your machine
    3. Turn on the machine
    4. Sew ONE, only ONE more line on your t-shirt quilt.
    5. Turn off your machine
    6. Clap your hands to celebrate the one line sewn.
    7. Give each other a hug.
    8. Repeat steps #1 – #7 for each of the following days.

    Take care of yourselves!
    Hugs …

  7. Sharon says:

Sounds like you need a vacation from the sewing room! Hope you enjoy your time else where!

  8. Cocoa Quilts says:

I am with you girl. I have no idea for my June OMG. I love that triangle quilt and can hardly wait to see how you get it together.

  9. Brenda @ Songbird Designs says:

I totally understand! Haven’t been in the mood to do much here either!! Maybe I’ll get a post written today for To-Do Tuesday! Then again???

  10. Sherrie says:

    Hi,
I sandwiched a quilt yesterday and it wore me out. All that walking around the cutting table..but I finally got it together and on the hoop to be tied. You’ll think of something I’m sure. Have a great day!

Quilt-apathy sounds like and looks like catastrophe but only in our minds. It’s okay to take a break or maybe a squirrel needs to pay you a visit? Hugs

  12. Rochelle Summers says:

Well Roseanne. I think your gas gauge is broken and you didn’t know you were running on fumes. So…I might be time to get out in the yard (that is if the weather allows). Run barefoot through the lawn. Soak your feet in a wading pool, sip something yummy, read a book (not about quilting). Make a date to meet up with the kids on Zoom. Anything but looking into the sewing room. You have permission!

  13. Denise says:

Oh my, are you kidding? I didn’t think I’d ever see the day when you have nothing on your to-do list, I hope you are okay. Thank you for the linky party.

  14. karenfae says:

you will figure out eventually what you want to work on next – sometimes we need a week or two to think about it and then head full steam into it

  15. davemelvanolan says:

I lacked some desire as well… It is amazing how quickly the rug can get yanked out from under you! Perhaps a small project like a pin cushion or pillow so that you see quick progress.

  16. Linda Mincher says:

I love your list for this week! I feel that way most of the time! Have a great week.

  17. Laura says:

Perhaps it is time for a diversion. I have signed up for a photography course, and I am excited about it. Not much sewing happening, but I am a happy clam snapping pictures. I am not suggesting photography in particular, but perhaps you need some time out. Do something else…no guilty feelings. We weren’t created to do just one thing…we are inquisitive creatures! You will come back to your sewing refreshed. Your sewing is not your day job (if you are like me, then the day job is a necessary evil). Your sewing is a creative and pleasurable outlet. Keep it that way!

  18. Like Mary, I think layering that t-shirt quilt was a big enough accomplishment for the week! I bet you’re exhausted from the end of the school year, too. Be kind to yourself and do whatever you feel like, Roseanne! A few more stitches in the t-shirt quilt would be the perfect thing.

  19. I agree with Gretchen that it’s fine to take breaks and refresh ourselves. I’m wondering if those triangles in the baby quilt are half-rectangle triangles. Layering that t-shirt quilt quite frankly sounds exhausting! But good for you for making some progress with it. Hope you have a great day, Mary.

  20. Kate Swallows says:

I haven’t been as diligent with my sewing time either the last week or so. Maybe it’s time for some sewing room chores or as Gretchen suggests, just hanging out with a few quilt books/magazines, blogs and Pinterest.

  21. Gretchen says:

Not much sewing has happened here either. We’re busy making hay before the next rain comes. It’s fine to take a break and refresh ourselves. Sit down, have a cup of coffee and browse through some quilt books or just sit and browse through quilting blogs.
