To-Do Tuesday Linky #2 & Weekly Progress Update

This is the 123rd edition of our weekly to-do list and the second post as a linky party here on our website.  I hope you consider linking up, and I’d like to thank everyone who joined us last week.

To-Do for the week of August 13th through 19th:

  1. Start quilting the Cind-erella quilt top – √ done
  2. Dabble on the Quiet Book and other half-started projects √ ready to be sewn
  3. Find a new project! – √ done
  4. Watch the littles on Friday! – √ done

To-Do #1

Our August OMG project is to piece the Cind-erella quilt top together, and being the overachiever that I am quilting has started as well.  I shared some pictures last week showing that I chose a swirly pattern that morphed into a daisy-like shape.  A few leaves were tossed in for good measure mostly when I got myself cornered and needed an easy path out.

Laura asked if I had done anything differently when quilting with fleece as a backing, as far as thread, needle choice or sewing settings.  I thought that was an excellent question, so I thought I’d share here that I didn’t change a single thing.  I’ve had no difficulties stitching on the fleece.  The thread I used is my usual Aurifil 50wt pale yellow (#2026, I think) – my go-to thread for just about everything unless it’s a dark fabric.

To-Do #2

Yeah.  A little more appliqueing of the Quiet Book did happen but my heart’s not really into it.  Sue is going to have me adding zippers and a few buttons AND THEN the first two pages of the book can be put together.  That may help with the motivation!

To-Do #3

Our next project was shared last week – this nice sunny and bright Drunkard’s Path quilt.  We’re awaiting the fabric’s arrival . . . and then it’s drop everything and go time.  Woot woot!  Can’t wait to get my mitts on these Icon Elements.  I recolored the quilt top blocks using the IE fabric in EQ8 so this layout is more representative.

To-Do #4

Addi waking up

We spent Friday with Dominic and Addison, and we lived to talk about it. ~smile~  Those two have a LOT of energy.  Addi greeted us in her heart jammies.  Then we started the morning at the swings in the park (there was still dew on the grass) and progressed from there to the big hill for running.

Dominic wasn’t having any part of the hill though . . . so we strolled to Subway to pick up lunch for later.  Sweet boy was starving so he had lunch at 10:30 and got a second wind!  We played until it was nap time (for him).

Baby girl graced us with two 30 minute naps on Auntie Rose and then we went back outside for a stroll around the block.  We love every moment we can spend with these two – we repeated most of this fun again Saturday morning at our house.

August OMG

Our August OMG (one monthly goal) is to complete the Cind-erella quilt top for Addison.  We linked this goal on Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website and linky party.  Quilting is finished and the binding is being tacked down.

To-Do for the week of August 20th through 26th

  1. Drop everything and make the Rainbow Ripples project – the fabric is here!
Rainbow Ripples trial block

Of course, I had to stay up late and make a quick block!

  1. Nothing else is going to happen because we need to focus on #1 ~smile~

The littles are always fun and I’m glad to see you enjoying them! My hubs and I took our little grands to a steam engine train ride Friday and oh boy did we all have fun. But no pictures b/c we stitched cars at the last minute and left the camera in our car!
All your projects are looking great. Your quilting on Cinderella is so pretty! I hope to get that good at FMQ one day. And I have to say that Drunkard’s Path is one of my favorite blocks. I like the color layout of yours!

  3. That Rainbow Ripples quilt is going to be amazing! And I love how the quilting looks on Cinderella. I may have to get some pale yellow Aurifil. It’s such a great quilting color. I found out this weekend a I am actually a random winner of a 12-pack of Aurifil for one of the posts I linked up for the Qtr 2 Finish-A-Long. I can’t wait to see the different colors. Thanks for hosting such a great Linky party. Take care, Mary.

I bet that Friday and Saturday left the two of you totally knackered but OH WHAT FUN! Addi looks like such a big girl sitting up in that Elmo chair! I think about these two littles and what an amazing impact you two have on their lives. You two are a true blessing!

I need to be able to keep up and visit with ya’ll! 🙂
