To-Do Tuesday Linky #16 & Weekly Progress Update

Join us for the 16th linky party post and the 136th edition of the weekly to-do list.  Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week.

To-Do for the week of November 19th through 25th:

  1. Get the cozy batting/fabrics cut – √ done
  2. Continue playing around with the hexagon – √ done
  3. Finish the last few Freefall Fall blocks – √ done

To-Do #1

Way back in 2017 we made some microwave cozies for Dominic’s baby shower.  They are fairly easy and quick to make.  Janice, Sue’s sister, asked us to make some for her to give as a secret Santa gift.  Sure!  Our plan was to whip up a few but we found that we had no Wrap ‘n’ Zap to use as for the batting.  Oops!  So we picked some up at Joann’s and then Sue got to work cutting them out and marking the + and x lines for me to sew on.

One cozy is all finished, the second one is awaiting topstitching.  The last two are in various stages of construction and will be completed by the end of the week.  We’re kind of digging on the peace signs!

To-Do #2

Our friend Vicki shared this tutorial for a Hexagon Snowman Table Topper back in July and we knew we were destined to make one or two.  This week, I started appliqueing the snowflakes and snowman heads onto the hexagon wedges.  This project has been interrupted by a squirrel that snuck in while neither one of us was looking.

Two more snowman heads and two more snowflakes to go – this is turning out so cute.

To-Do #3

Talk about a hand-off project!  We won these beautiful Fall-colored batik fabrics from Quilting Gail, and another friend (Kathleen) suggested we make a table runner using Sandra’s pattern from mmm Quilts.  So, of course, we did and here’s the resulting table runner.  Good called Kathleen!

We love the secondary pattern that is formed when you point the leaves outward.  It’s all sewn together and quilted with a leaf pattern.  The binding will be added shortly and a period will be put on this project.

November OMG

Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party which opened on November 1st.  Our November OMG project is to finish the Ripples blocks that we have requested from our beehive for the month of October into a quilt top.  While we have only 16 out of the 24 blocks we should have for this quilt, I guess we’ll just sew them together and call it a day.

To-Do for the week of November 26th through December 2nd:

Holy cow!  Just four more weeks of goal-setting for 2019.  EEK!

  1. Decide on the last OMG for the year
  2. Complete the quilt top for November’s OMG
  3. Start decorating the house for Christmas??

Roseanne you are so far ahead of me. I have got nothing done. I wanted to make some micro cozies too. I have the wrap and zap, but haven’t had the mojo to get any done. Maybe next year.

Look at those check marks on the to-do list – woo hoo!!

OMG! Thanks for the reminder! I don’t think I’ve been working on mine. LOL I have to look it up and see what I’m supposed to be doing.
That secondary design on your leaf table runner is great. I love when that happens.

  4. Denise says:

I love the runner, the fabric is perfect for it. Cant wait to see what you do with the runner from Vicki.

  5. You did well! Have a great Thanksgiving! It seemed like November was long at first then some stole a few weeks. Good luck getting it all done!

  6. I love your appliqué on the snowflakes. It’s so precise! And I’m totally disgusted regarding people flaking out on your bee blocks. It’s just not right! I’m still willing to make another block or two if you have any more of those charm squares. Take care, Mary.

Hello Roseanne, I have never made any of the microwave bowls. Your bowls look great and it is wonderful to hear how much they are used and appreciated! The table topper is going to be so adorable and with the stitches looking perfect it is also going to be a showstopper! I am so sorry that so many people failed to provide you with the Ripple Block that you need for your quilt. Roseanne, if you will send me the block details of the colors and of course the fabrics you want used, I will make up all of the blocks you need. I just will not put them completely together for you can use your special center pieces…unless you want me to try and find something that will work. Yes! I will do this without a second thought!! Just let me know the details! Hugs being sent your way!

  8. We have our first storm in the forecast, and I am so ready. (Can’t believe I just said that.) I love those bowl cozies, but haven’t used wrap n zap – I just use batting scraps. I don’t put them in the micro though. Anyway, we use them all the time. Can’t wait to see the snowman hexie!! And that little squirrel . . .

  9. Vicki in MN says:

Where oh where has this year gone, seriously I think I blinked once and poof! I hope the grandsons will help with the tree decorating this weekend.

  10. It is definitely hard to believe that it’s time to decorate for Christmas! Looking forward to seeing your snowman tabletopper finished up!

  11. Kate says:

You had a successful week, good luck on this week’s To Do list. Hard to believe we’ve just got 4 weeks left in the year.
