To-Do Tuesday Linky #14 & Weekly Progress Update

Join us for the 14th linky party post and the 134th edition of the weekly to-do list.  Thanks to everyone who linked up with us last week and who join in this week.

To-Do for the week of November 5th through 11th:

  1. Finish the Quatrefoil blocks for Rachel – √ done
  2. Color block of the month – yellow – √ done
  3. Start cutting the hexagon topper fabrics – √ done

To-Do #1

The quatrefoil block that Rachel selected as her IG Honeybee block of the month is unique.  I had never seen or even heard of the block until her selection!  It is fairly easy to construct, and our two blocks went together without issue.  Here is the layout of one of the blocks.  Does anyone else just notice all the stray threads long after they have taken a photo?  I wonder why I didn’t notice before . . . anyhoo . . .

Quatrefoil layout

Do you see the four-leaf clover in the design?  Does it remind you of a Girl Scout cookie called Trefoil?  The design has quite a long history and has been used in many designs such as wallpaper, architecture, light fixtures, and even garbage cans.  You’ll have to check your surroundings when you’re out and about – I suspect you see them in oodles of places.  I will share both blocks in a post tomorrow.

To-Do #2

Yellow is the color of the month for November.  Jen just recently released the 2019 November Color Challenge block and we got it cut out and finished this last weekend.  I shared all the details just yesterday but here is our finished block.

To-Do #3

When Vicki, from Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting, shared a tutorial for a Hexagon Snowman Table Topper back in July we decided we’re going to make a version of the cute topper. It’s for Sue’s sister, Janice or more recently Gaga (short for Grandma).  This hexagon-shaped topper calls for 60-degree triangles, but we didn’t have a ruler.  Instead, I used the 60-degree line on my skinny little ruler and it worked like a charm.

November OMG

Thank you to Patty’s at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party which opened on November 1st.  Our November OMG project is to finish the Ripples blocks that we have requested from our beehive for the month of October into a quilt top.  I still am waiting for at least six of the eight blocks that haven’t been sent yet by beehive mates.  This is a bit disappointing.

To-Do for the week of November 12th through 18th

  1. Continue working on the hexagon snowman topper
  2. Find the pattern for the Fall batik fabrics from Gail
  3. Make a microwave cozy as a secret Santa gift

Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:

I made one of Vickie’s snowmen table runners last January. I collect snowmen, so it will show off some of my collection each winter.

Hello Roseanne, Both blocks are fabulous! I am glad that you have shared them both with us because they have both been added to my list of blocks to make. The problem is the list is long and who knows when I will reach them. LOL. Have a blast working on your new table runner project!

  8. Yep, I remember Trefoil Girl Scout cookies…don’t know if they’re still on the menu, but thin mints are my GS cookie of choice.

Stray threads, yes I don’t see them until after I have taken photos. Sometimes I do not notice them immediately. Thank you for the linky party

Awesome! I really love that quatrefoil block. A quilt of that block is on my bucket list! (that keeps getting longer and longer!!!)

  13. Both your quatrefoil and color challenge blocks are so pretty, Roseanne! A whole quilt of the quatrefoil blocks will be really neat. Have fun with the hexie snowman tabletopper! I have one of Vicki’s snowman patterns to finish up, too!

  14. Vicki in MN says:

Whoo hooo you got a start on the hexie!! It’ll go fast. I saw a flower with leaves in your quatrefoil block.

  15. Kate says:

You did really well on last week’s goals. Good luck with this week’s.

  16. Kathryn says:

All the best with the weeks work. I made a quatre foil quilt although sadly I wasn’t happy with it and it is still waiting for its binding to go on! I didn’t match some of the important parts very well as they are a little tricky! I haven’t tried it since!
