To-Do Tuesday Linky #11 & Weekly Progress Update
This is the 132nd edition of the weekly to-do list and the 11th post as a linky party here on our website. Thanks to everyone who joined us last week.
To-Do for the week of October 15th through 21st:
- Quilt and bind Fiona & Lovey – √ done
- Start and finish the day bag
- Sew the October block of the month– √ done
- Start sewing the tester pattern – √ done
To-Do #1
Sweet little Fiona’s two wall hangings are finished. We made her one wall hanging spelling out her name. Lovely the Llama is the second hanging and I hope she sees the love in her eyes when she is a bit older. I’m going to post more details about them tomorrow, but who wants to see them anyway?! Okay . . . here’s one photo to pacify you if you can’t wait until tomorrow.
Here’s the good stuff – some photos to enjoy instead. The first one is Fiona coming home from the hospital in her car seat. All three older brothers gathered round to welcome her to her new home. In the second photo, it’s all about getting a good look at our new sister. Even, Bea, the dog has to get a good close look (and sniff)! These photos just warm my heart.
To-Do #2
Ta-da! I lived through making my first bag in years and years. It’s just a day pack and the whole gory saga will be shared on Friday. Here is proof that it is indeed finished with my bestie as a model.
To-Do #3
Last week, the Cutting Department, a.k.a. Sue, got the beautiful red fabric along with the dotted Swiss ready for the October challenge block of the month.
Did I mention how we love red and especially this red fabric? From the raw, freshly-cut fabric pieces to the finished block. I love it and would enjoy making a whole quilt of this block!
The block is finished and got a short chance to hang on the design wall. It was a short and sweet visit because . . . 12 of the Ripples block are hanging out in a bea-u-tee-ful layout for our IG Honeybee choice. 10 more blocks to come!

Love, love, LOVE this Ripples block!
To-Do #4
Just yesterday I shared the details about being a pattern tester for the first time! How exciting is that? Again, the Cutting Department (Sue) stepped up and got us started for two blocks in each fabric choice. I am carefully following Becca’s instruction for each Geo Pop block . . . I love these geometric shapes.
As I was pressing the solid fabrics in gray, black and white, I thought about my friend, Mary. She makes a LOT of projects in solids and I can see why. They really are divine. I think that often, though, as I’m pressing fabric. Such pretty fabric . . . this quilt is going to be SO pretty.
October OMG
For our October OMG, we’ll be making the aforementioned day pack or backpack for Catherine. Thanks to Patty’s Elm Street Quilts website and her linky party for motivating us each month. This is officially finished and well before the end-of-the-month deadline. Woot woot!

Virtual Cookies … me, too! I completely understand your love of that red. I would love it, too. Any idea whose line it is? Lots of great sewing at your house last week … and more of the same for this week, I know!
Great finishes (and ‘starts’!)
Everything is looking grand! Can’t wait to see Fiona’s lovelies.
Hello Roseanne, As I was looking at the pictures of Fionna and her 3 Big Brothers, I could not help but think and laugh at all the picking on she is going to have to put up with. Yet, at the same time, those 3 brothers are going to stand up and defend her for the remainder of her life also! I hope you keep us updated. Looking forward to seeing the Llama wall hanging all finished also! LOL…I can not find the bag I was working on, we had company staying on and off this summer due to Kevin having some surgeries. I set it aside and can not find it now. I do love the fabric you used for your bag!! The lady that receives this beautiful bag is going to be so thrilled!! I do look forward to hearing the details, but the final outcome is fantastic! I agree with your choice for the BOM fabric choices. They are so lovely together! I know I have made this block before myself, it is a fun block to make. You have me wanting to make a Christmas Quilt with this block. LOL. As though I do not already have enough going on! LOL. Keep us informed on if you do decide to make a whole quilt, I may just join you. I know you could do another one of your sew alongs….boy, my mind is just filled with ideas today! Ha, Ha, Ha….is Sue glaring at me while you are reading this while talking about this is a good idea kind of event. I know she is and you are giggling out loud by now and is she shaking her head at you telling you you have to many projects going on already and she is shaking her finger at me and at you! I am almost rolling on the floor laughing now and my husband just asked me what kind of trouble am I getting into! Seriously…how do they know these things? I will stop causing problems and go on now. Your Ripples Quilt is going to be so AWESOME! I bet you are really excited to get the remaining blocks and get the quilt top all sewn together. I am really looking forward to seeing it! I had to think about my abundance of solid fabrics that I have and it seems that I just do not use them very often. Yet, like you, I have found some beautiful quilts made using only solids. I wonder what it is that makes one quilter love them and another quilter not? Just a thought. I also always smile at the way in which you and Sue keep your fantastic system running so smoothly. Helping one another to achieve is a goal we should all try and reach. Sorry that I let my thoughts ramble on today. I just felt like chatting. I enjoy your posts and always pray that you achieve all of your goals! Have a great day! Waving at you from a sunny and some what warm day of around 65 here in Southern Oregon!!!
What fun for you two! Such cute projects, and baby! with her adoring brothers! The doggy doesn’t look like a new little life in the family is a good idea tho! Quilt testing and with Geo Pops! Looks like a good combination.
I’m joining in on the Virtual Cookie Exchange blog hop, too! Definitely have to get the project going! We’re headed to visit my mom today, so I don’t have a To-Do post – back next week! Have a great day, Roseanne!
I love, love, love those Ripple blocks too. That’s going to be gorgeous, Roseanne. Meanwhile, you are so good at getting things done and dusted!
great projects — you and Sue amaze me! Beautiful pics of Fiona and family ♥
Yippee on the bag being all ready – can’t wait to hear the gory details! It looks fabulous!!! Good luck on your goals this week!
You tantalized us with some great projects. I’ll wait to comment more until your full reveals! Thanks for the shout out regarding my love of solids. Even my print stash is full of blender fabrics which I’ve heard described as “near solids.” Have a great day, Mary.
Glad I stopped by, with all my planning i forgot to include the Cookie Exchange Hop project. Back to the drawing board which isn’t as full as your’s. Thank you for the linkup.
OH so many projects – love the red and white also – Fiona and bag are so cute! Your are really achieving your goals! I am finally getting some hand work done again!
Nice going getting the bag done early!!
Congrats on checking off all your “to dos” from your list. Good luck with this week’s list. I’m going to give the weekly list making a go. I typically don’t do well with lists, but I need some focus if I’m going to finish off a few things before the end of the year.
Yippee, Kate! So glad you’re joining us! ~smile~ Roseanne
