To-Do Tuesday #79 – Our Last Linky Party
Each week for the last 78 weeks or exactly one and a half years we’ve hosted To-Do Tuesday with a linky party. Today marks the end of that run as we are passing the baton next week to Chris at Chris Knits. She has also been a partner in crime as one of the hosts of the Stay-At-Home Round Robin (Round Four checkerboard block shared just yesterday).

- Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool
- Don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway or promotion for your newest pattern release
- Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
- Finally, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as your time allows
To-Do Tuesday #78 Linky Party
You will find the link-ups displayed on a separate screen. I hope you check them out and/or add your own link! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made this week and finding some inspiration plus a squirrel project or two.
Why Give Up To-Do Tuesday
Many friends have asked why we are giving up the linky party fun and even stepping away from the blog. A major disappointment from the recent shift to a different web hosting service is the broken links on the 2,500+ pins saved on Pinterest. As you can see, Pinterest has referred a LOT of traffic to our website in just three years at 63,726 views.

I found it amazing that Crazy Mom Quilts is our next highest referrer considering that Amanda stopped posting in December of 2018! Anyway, back to the broken links issue – I’ve reached out to Pinterest to see if there is anyway to correct these broken links. While I could delete all of them – a daunting task in and of itself – and repost them, what about the links that have been saved by others?? They are also broken and I’m not able to ever fix those. Discouraged and defeated, the decision was made that I cannot go on, at least not right now.
To-Do Continues in Spirit
You’re not getting rid of us that easily! We’ll still be around sewing and sharing inspiration and an occasional squirrel project that you’ll just NEED to make. I’ll be posting on Facebook and Instagram, plus visiting and commenting on blogs just like always. Here are a couple of our to-do projects that we’ve been working on.
To-Do #1
A little Valentine table topper was requested and of course, we complied as quickly as we could. It’s all washed and has been given to Sue’s sister since the season for it is RIGHT NOW.

While we had the pinks out for January’s RSC block (which I think I’ve forgotten to share) some found themselves made into hearts along with a few red fabrics as well. A quick buttonhole stitch all around and Bob’s-you-uncle. It just needed to be layered and quilted.
I free-motion quilted it with . . . can you guess . . . hearts ♥, of course! They are interspersed with little loops to just be able to move around the piece. It took maybe two hours to finish quilting and add the binding. Sue finished tacking it down and it was ready to be gifted. Just in the knick of time, here’s Janice with the completed topper and it on her dinette table. We were too tired to notice that Janice had the topper sideways!!
To-Do #2
We started working on the most important project for this month – a baby quilt for our newest little baby boy who is due on March 3rd.
Since his siblings have Ellie the elephant and George the giraffe, our choice for this little guy is Lucy the lion.
On the left is our inspiration image, while the right shows the beginning stages of appliqueing his drum perch. We’ve got a ways to go before this is ready to be layered and quilted!
♥ ♥ ♥
Like/follow us on our Facebook page to see what we’re up to and to share photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them! I’ll also be sharing updates on Instagram although sometimes the pictures aren’t quilting related!
Roseanne, I’m sorry that you won’t be blogging anymore. Your presence will be missed. I guess I don’t worry about traffic on my blog. I blog for myself and to document my progress. It is a bonus when people find me and comment. Also, I rarely but any of my projects on Pinterest. Congratulations on the new addition coming. I know how much you love your littles! I’ll miss all their pictures.
Nice!!!
I hope you take a nice hiatus and come back to blogging. I’m not a big fan of Instagram and spend minimal time on Facebook. So, I’m voting for a rest and return!
Technology – a blessing AND q curse as Monk would say. So sad for you both. The Quilty community is losing big time with you two no longer spreading your joy and quilting.
I do know about host issues and my last host deleted my entire site by mistake. OMG! Going with another host, I had to rebuild my site, and that is still not complete almost a year later.
I don’t like the thought of the time it will take me to go to pinterest and remove everything that can no longer be seen……sigh.
Since I’ve only recently found you and your linky, I am sad to see it go. I hope I can find where the other one is that you write about.
Reading the comments after your post makes me wonder: did I miss something? Are you discontinuing posting on your blog or just hosting the 2dotuesday event?
I’m not on FB or instagram or anything other than WP, so how do I still stay in touch?
BTW: congrats on the new soon-to-be-born family addition!
And thanks for ‘letting me’ join in on the fun in a few of the past 2dotuesdays!!!!!
I’m amazed at how much you do!
Take care, stay sane, stay safe.
Roseanne and Sue — now I really have to get into Instagram so I can keep up with your beautiful family and lovely quilts.
How sad Roseanne! Please continue to visit me. I do not do Facebook or Instagram. Wish you all the luck in the world! Hugs!
You two will be missed! I’ve enjoyed getting to know you through your hosting TDT. Fun projects! The heart quilt turned out great with that quilting. And won’t that lion be a fun baby quilt!
Sorry to see you go Roseanne. It’s a shame that broken links has driven you away from blogging, but I totally understand. I’ll be looking for you on Instagram.
I’ll be trying to keep up with you and all of your inspiration on IG. I’ll miss your blog posts and seeing the littles but quite understand the frustration of blogland. Such beautiful projects you have on the go. Your Lucy the Lion will be a perfect addition to the littles family of quilts when that sweet new boy joins your world. See you down the road or rather internet 😉
Hang in there Roseanne. I hope after a (SHORT) hiatus, you will return with a new blog. I try to avoid Facebook as much as possible but I do occasionally get on there and on Instagram. You will be missed but glad the linky party will go on since it prods me to post more and make myself accountable to get something done! LOL Your projects are really cute. Looking forward to seeing that new baby quilt completed!
I’m glad Chris picked it up, but will be sad not to see your blog posts anymore. I do have an instagram account. I need to dust it off and learn how to find your posts there.
I love your baby quilts, and Lucy the Lion will be the perfect addition.
Roseanne, I changed my blog URL structure and ended up with a lot of broken links on Pinterest. I spent a couple hours on Friday and was able to do some damage control. I have three “pins” that are super popular. When I clicked on one, I noticed that I could edit it! So I fixed the URL. I did that on my top pins. (It didn’t take very long!) Then I created a custom 404 error page on my website using a 404 plug in. On the page, I listed my my most popular pins and a link to those blog posts. Then I directed people how to use the SEARCH function to find any other content. Let me know if this is helpful. Pinterest definitely gives me the most traffic!
That’s a great solution! I have some broken pins as well.
I am sad … very sad … that you won’t be blogging. However, I do understand the devastation that ensued when you switched to another host. GROAN!!!! That’s got to hurt! I’m sure Chris will do a great job, but it won’t be the same. I’ve “Liked” your FB page … and will be stalking you! 🙂
Thank you for hosting so cheerfully! I only joined in a few times, but your encouragement was very much appreciated, and I could always “hear” the smile in your words. I’ll find you on Instagram for sure. 🙂
Well I am certainly very sad to see the end of your blog, and the troubles that have ensued. :-(((( However, I will continue to follow you on Instagram, as I don’t do FB. Bet you’ll find you enjoy the extra time, as blogging and visiting and commenting and responding all do take time.
So sad about this blog business. I guess I was luck in that the referrals when I moved from blogger to WordPress were “kept”. It is crazy that the former referral doesn’t work. I love your heart quilt and sure look forward to the lion, and ,of course, pictures of the new little one.
Everything said above and more! I’ll miss all those wonderful posts, the cheerful photos you have posted and the spirit of community you have brought to this blog. Instagram and Facebook will have to be where I find my fix for the two of you. Those two projects are great. I love the idea of the lion quilt. And the valentine table topper is very nice any way you look at it.
Oh those baby quilts are sooo cute! A new one on the way! Exciting! Thanks for hosting all of these link ups! We’ve all really appreciated it!
love the baby with the giraffe quilt – how lovely! and the hearts too – I don’t understand your reason to stop blogging because of broken links to pinterest. you could still blog if you wish and not worry about broken links – but I don’t understand the technicality of it all
Well, I’m awfully glad I won’t lose touch with you, but terribly sad about your blog. That little lion quilt is going to be a cute one, and the new little guy will be arriving soon! How exciting!
We’re all going to miss your happy and positive blog, Roseanne! Glad to hear you’ll still be around. I love your Valentine topper – that turned out just great! Looks like a fun new quilt for the new addition to the family, too!
I hope I can be half as welcoming as you gals in hosting! Love the new baby’s quilt!! And what a sweet topper. So sorry the blog issues have caused you grief. My first blog host wiped out all my photos and posts one time. I got a free blog after that, but it was heartbreaking to lose those photos, which is why. I now use a third party photo host. Stay well!
Yay Chris! I’m glad To Do Tuesday will continue.
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and wish you the best. A very cute wallhanging!
So sorry to hear that you are stepping away from your blog. I have enjoyed your adventures in quilting immensely. I will keep up with you on FB. Stay healthy. Keep sewing!
The lion is going to be so cool! The table topper turned out beautifully. I’m sad to see you quit the blog. I know I only make it around to comment every week or so, but you and Sue have such fun projects.
Love the lion, but sad that you’ll be leaving the blogging…will have to be a more regular presence on Instagram to follow…I’ve been extremely intermittent there. Can understand why though! What a pain to fix it would be!
What a cute lion for a baby boy quilt. I am new to To Do Linky Party and sorry to know you quit, but I can understand your fellings. Thank you so much for all your efforts, Sucess in the new jorney Hugs
Sorry to hear you are leaving Blogland, but happy that To Do Tuesday will continue and that you can still be found on Facebook and Instagram.
Your projects are so lovely! Beautiful hearts, and this lion is so cute, its going to be a good companion to Ellie and George (in France, it’s named Sophie!). Very sorry to see you quit the linky party, I will follow the spirit to Chris place. Thank you my friends for this wonderful job done with the linky, the great inspiration, and the feeling of being part of a kind community. Hugs 💖
