To-Do Tuesday #71 and Weekly List Update
Join us today for the 71st linky party post and the 191st weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. We had 31 friends link up last week! Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” Just two more linky parties for us to host in 2020 – can you believe that?!
To-Do December 8th through 14th:
- Start cutting and sewing 4-Patch Plus – √ Done
- Work on the Pink Herringbone runner – √ Done
- Keep the OMG project in timeout until it decides to cooperate – √ Done
To-Do #1
I was sewing HSTs like crazy for the Pinwheels Patches that we’re calling 4-Patch Plus. Once the initial half-square triangles were made and trimmed we realized that more were need. Oops! Back to the sewing board where additional HSTs were made and then trimmed.

To-do #2
All the blocks of the Pink Herringbone runner have been sewn together into rows, and the first four rows have also been sewn together. Of course, a picture wasn’t procured so you’ll have to enjoy this photo from the initial layout on the design wall.

I’m starting to lose my sewing mojo a bit as we get closer to the holidays. This fourth-quarter goal may not get complete based on my interest in sewing but don’t tell Sue!
To-Do #3
During my work week, I had wild dreams about taking the light-blue batik baby quilt out of the timeout. That timeout was for both of us. I can only speak for myself, but I did spend a fair amount of time trying to think about my behavior and how it should be modified. Thank you for your suggestions! Maybe next weekend I’ll give the ruler quilting another shot . . . maybe. Anything to avoid these skipped stitches and more broken thread.

December OMG:
This month, we will be working on the light-blue batik baby quilt as we mentioned above in to-do #3. The backing has been found, layering is complete, and quilting has sort of commenced. We did link up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts earlier this month and we thank her for the linky party and inspiration.
To-Do December 15th through 21st:
- Make some Christmas cookies and possibly fudge??
- Sew the Corner Star block for Pieces From the Past SAL
- Start thinking about the Stay-At-Home-Round-Robin which starts January 1st!
- That’s it – that’s all I’ve got for this week

- Here is the linkup and just a few easy rules to follow:
- Share your post or Instagram photo in the linky tool
- Don’t share a link to your own linky party or giveaway or promotion for your newest pattern release
- Please point your readers back here with a text link or use the button from the right sidebar
- Finally, please visit and comment on other participants’ messages as your time allows

You will find the link-ups displayed on a separate screen. I hope you check them out and/or add your own link! I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made this week and finding some inspiration and maybe my lost sewing mojo.

On our website you’ll find the Linky Parties we join on the sidebar for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on. We would love to see them!
Hope you got the stitching worked out on the batik quilt! Good luck on your goals.
Hi Roseanne, good luck with your light blue baby quilt. I hope that you can figure out a solution. I can understand being too distracted with everything to be quilting – I’m just so pooped from running around getting ready for the holidays. It never seems to end 🙂 Remember that a to-do list is generally more like a wish list than a commitment and you need to enjoy it. Take care of yourself.
Roseanne, I certainly can understand losing the sewing mojo! It’s been a problem for me this week as well. Don’t be too hard on yourself and wait until you are up to the task!
I’m a little late to the party. It’s been so long since I’ve consistently had anything to share I got a little out of my groove. I’m also very far behind on my reading but hope to catch up soon. The pink herringbone is really nice, I like that. There’s plenty of sewing mojo around here to send your way. Thank you for the linky party.
Cookies! Yum! That would be a nice break from quilting. Stay-at-home-round-robin, now that sounds interesting! Love the fabrics you are using in your pinwheels. I hope your mojo sticks around long enough to finish your OMG!
Hi Roseanne. You did have some pretty successes last week and I’m sure this week’s list is doable! 😉. I think a lot of us are suffering from dwindling sewjo right now. It’s just been a loooong year with too much going on and our internal batteries do run down. The holidays and some on line visits will help recharge the batteries (and cookies and fudge and smiling, happy faces). 😄
Hi,
The pinwheel and patches quilt will be beautiful when done. I
love the pink herringbone runner…so pretty. Have a great day!
Well, I’m right with you (if not ahead of you) on the loss of the sewing mojo. But it sounds to me a lot like you have been doing pretty well. Putting a project in time-out sounds good. Mostly, I’ve put myself in time out! Take care and enjoy each day to the max doing something fun…sewing or not.
Fudge sounds like a really good idea! Mmmmm. Sorry your had troubles with the stitching. So very frustrating.
I sure do understand that the “holidays” derail us. I hope your sewjo returns and that the quilt that is out of time out behaves….for whatever reason. Good luck with feeling the calm as you can going through this new normal hectic holiday season!
I think we’re all starting to lose a little of our sewing mojo right now and that is a good thing! I would spend my entire life in my sewing room if things like Christmas (oh, okay, household chores, eating and sleeping too) didn’t draw me away! Do you find the Bloc-loc ruler worth it? In an effort to keep down on gadgets (clutter?) in my sewing room, I get pretty selective about what I buy in that department–probably too selective because maybe I could be making life easier!
Isn’t it nice to see all those red check marks on your weekly list! The last one really cracks me up, LOL I am sure you will be able to add more check marks to this week’s list;)
Take a little break, make some cookies! Your mojo will come back and you’ll get everything done. Hope you get those skipped stitches figured out. You’ve had a good week, despite the dip in mojo!
Definitely put those cookies on your list, Roseanne! I’m thinking some need to be baked here, too. Good luck with your other to-dos – you can do it!
I definitely got a chuckle out of your quilting time-out! I definitely don’t have any advice for you on that front, but I hope you can figure out a less stressful solution. I agree with the other commenters. Do what you can to relax and enjoy the holiday season.
I understand losing your sewing mojo during the holidays. Sometimes it’s good to take a break and then be really joyful to return in January. I sure hope that Baby Batik quilt will work out. It’s so pretty! Hugs and stay safe!
It does get to be a bit much to keep up with. All the stitching with the wrapping, baking and visiting. Though I’d guess that the visiting is much reduced this year for many. Hope the baby batik has learned it’s lesson in time out and it’s now a dream to work with. Happy stitching this week.
Hi Roseanne,
I won’t tell Sue, but I certainly understand that sewing is likely to take a back seat with the holidays approaching!!!
Hopefully, those skipped stitches will be a thing of the past!
Thanks for hosting “To Do!”
Happy Quilting! 🙂
