For our United States followers, PLEASE GO VOTE TODAY if you haven’t already. Not only is it your civic duty but it is a honor and privilege that many have fought and died for. Think about that one moment – they fought and died to allow you the privilege to be able to cast a vote. Your one true voice. Do it!

To-Do for the week of October 27th through November 2nd:

  1. Three more International Sister blocks (19 total – 6 to go) – √ done
  2. Applique Alaska Postcards – √ done
  3. Quilt Dumbo – seriously, quilt this! – √ DONE

To-Do #1

We are booking right along on our International Sister blocks. This week we finished #17-19 out of the 25 we plan to make. Next week, I’m going to throw caution to the wind and finish the last six. I think it is manageable, don’t you?

We are going to be making six extra blocks for a giveaway similar to the tradition Preeti started and how we got our first six blocks. With any luck, we should have a quilt top by Thanksgiving. That would also be the week to launch the giveaway so watch for more details coming very soon.

To-Do #2

Not only did we applique the individual Alaska postcards onto the background fabric, but we went one step further. Digging for gold you might say. The batik silk-screened Alaska fabric has been added to all four sides. Of course, my intention was to have the words pointing in the other direction . . . but that ship sailed with the first incorrect seam that wasn’t being removed.

We are SO happy with how this project is coming together. Up next, finding an appropriate backing, layering, and then quilting. Oh yes, how to quilt this is a big question.

To-Do #3

Quilt the Dumbo baby quilt. Such simple words for a simple goal that has been uttered way too many times and then ignored. Oh yes, this goal has been completed . . . but this accomplishment deserves its own separate post. And so it shall be deemed – give Dumbo its own post about the finish. It deserves it after waiting a year to be completed.

The clearing-of-the-chair goal that Sue has been pushing me toward is getting closer and closer! Technically, the only quilt remaining on the chair is Make Ours A Double waiting to be quilted. We won’t mention Beothuk and the Christmas beehive quilt top that both need backings. Everyone has a few UFOs hanging around, right?!

November OMG

November! Already! This month I am shooting for a two-fer. Two table runners completely quilted and finished. That includes finding a backing, layering, and quilting times two. We will finish the last snowman runner and the Alaska Postcard runner mentioned above. We will also link up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts.

To-Do for the week of November 3rd through 9th:

  1. Finish making the International Sister blocks
  2. Layer one of the OMG projects
  3. Finish the light blue nine-patch blocks

You’re doing great with all the goals ticked “done.”
As for quilting the post card quilt … straight line (or SITD) the borders and around each “card” them a simple meander or loop-d-loop around the cards … Have fun! 🙂
