To-Do Tuesday #64 and Weekly List Update
Join us for the 64th linky party post and the 184th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.”
To-Do for the week of October 20th through 26th:
- Start Alaska Postcards table runner – √ done
- Sew three more International Sister blocks – √ done
- Start sewing nine-patch light-blue blocks – √ done
Later this week we’ll be hosting another linky party for TGIFF – Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday. The post will go up Thursday afternoon for our down-under friends and anyone else with a finish or almost-finish to share! We’ll be sharing Flower-Power all complete and pretty. ~smile~ Also note worthy, by Friday there are only EIGHT weeks until Christmas and NINE weeks until the new year. Woot woot!
To-Do #1
We added an Alaska Postcards table runner to our fourth quarter list recently. The background fabric and separate fabric postcards were picked up the last time we cruised to Alaska with Sue’s parents. Her Dad and I love cruising to Alaska – sitting on the balcony with coffee and cookies, walking around the deck to ensure we get our steps in, checking out the different ports even if we’ve visited them before. We can strong arm Sue and her Mom into going by reminding them there will be NO cooking for a week, and there are trivia games galore along with general fun.

We differ on our opinion about where we found the background fabric and postcards. I think we found them in Juneau, a.k.a. where I petted the Husky pup in the back of the pickup on the way to the quilt shop. Sue thinks we found them in a shop off the beaten path in Ketchikan. Since it has been a number of years AND the receipt has been tossed, who really cares or can determine at this point. We both agree that it’s a cute project and one worthy to finally finish!

To-Do #2
Having spent a good portion of the week under-the-weather, I wasn’t sure if any International Sister blocks would be finished. Not that there is an exact deadline for this project other than my own mental one and Sue’s fourth-quarter list determination. By Saturday, after two nights of really good sleep (thank you, Lord!!), I was feeling pretty spunky. Sure, I could sew a few seams!
Here are our 16 International Sister blocks on the design wall so far. While not in their final layout yet, it has given me an idea of just what size the finished 25 blocks will be. Once we have a quilt top pieced together we’re going to have a giveaway to keep the Pretti-tradition going, but more about that later. (I hope she likes having a ‘tradition’ named after her!)
To-Do #3
Ahh, the little light-blue nine-patch blocks. They are just the perfect filler as a leader/ender piecing project that gets finished almost by accident. Right?! They were handy to have at the ready when working on the Sister blocks above.

There are about 11 of the 31 nine-patch blocks complete plus a few partial blocks. Alternating with these are some charm squares for the coordinating fabric line. When complete, this will be a mirror image of the dark-blue batik baby quilt we made earlier this year.
October OMG
We are going to finish off our Flower Power table runner as our October One Monthly Goal project. Our thanks go to Patty at Elm Street Quilts for hosting this monthly linky party. This will definitely be finished this month! We just need the monsoon rain to stop for some photos.
To-Do for the week of October 27th through November 2nd:
How did it get to be November already?!!
- Three more International Sister blocks (#17-19)
- Applique Alaska Postcards
- Quilt Dumbo – seriously, quilt this!

That Alaska postcards project is so special with all the good memories you have of that trip. The sisters blocks look great, and how fun that your batik leader-ender project is almost sewing itself!
If I were to go on a cruise, it would be an Alaskan one. The postcard table runner will be a great project to commemorate your adventure! Your sisters are coming along so nicely, will you be using a sashing around them? Happy Stitching!
The sisters look great. I have a sisters EQ8 file you can play with, shall I send it to you?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Glad you are feeling better – and I love the International Sisters!
I would love to see Alaska! The postcard runner is great!
I think your post card table runner will be great! What a fantastic way to remember your time in Alaska! Good luck with this week’s list!
Thank you for hosting “To Do”!!!! 🙂
Hi Roseanne. You managed to get a lot done in spite of feeling under the weather. I’m sure enjoying your sister blocks, the blue nine patches are fun and the Alaska post cards are so much fun. Looking forward to seeing everything (including Dumbo) when they progress some more 😉
Such wonderful sisters on your wall. They play well together…almost look like they are dancing. I love that table runner. You will have such great memories every time you look at it. Are you keeping it? I’ll be watching that baby quilt unfold. On my screen, it almost looks grey! So sorry you were under the weather. I get kinda worried every time someone says they aren’t feeling well.
We loved visiting Alaska, and I would love to go back! A cruise sounds like a fun way to do it. Fabric souvenirs that bring up memories are the best things to bring home! Have fun working on that tablerunner, Roseanne!
Glad you are feeling better, Roseanne. Great job getting things done!! Can’t wait to see your postcard table runner!
Everything is perfect! And oh, how I am ready to be done with 2020!!! But not too soon, I wouldn’t wish away Thanksgiving where we get to meet a new little one!!!
What a perfect way to travel to Alaska right now – with memories galore while you stitch up some fun! Your other projects are looking good too. The sisters are gathering nicely. Glad you are feeling better! Oh – a Preeti Good Giveaway – that will be fun. Thanks for hosting the linky!
You made good progress last week. Hope you can make good progress this week. Sorry to hear you were under the weather, glad you are feeling much better now.
What great memories your Alaska runner will give you as you are working on it and when you get to use it every day! Sorry you were under the weather, glad to hear it is turning around.
I love your International Sisters quilt so far! I haven’t started mine but I’ve been putting aside fabric for it! Love the Alaskan postcards! Great project! Have a super duper week!
Your International Sisters look so nice, happy stitching!
