To-Do #2

This may or may not have happened while the Aunties stayed overnight. There’s a new phenomenon the littles never heard of before until recently. That would be the ice cream truck. Imagine this: a truck filled with cold yummy ice cream treats drives right to your house! Who ever heard of such a thing?!! Since it was hot, of course, eating an ice cream treat MUST be enjoyed outside. On the front porch which is in the shade. Auntie Rose does not do sun (can anyone say skin cancer?!). What happens with the Aunties stays with the Aunties. We must keep all of our fun, fun, FUN tactics under wraps. We’ll never tell . . . but Addison might. ~smile~

P.S. Jeanette came through her second (final!!!) hip surgery doing great. She was up walking just 24 hours after coming out of recovery. Thank you, Lord. And thank you to all the caring and qualified staff at Aurora Hospital – Mount Pleasant. It happens to be where Andrea works and even on her floor.

This meme seemed to sum up what we want for Jeanette (Sue’s mom). We want her to hunger to get back to her old life and I think she is definitely at this stage. Time will tell the story but she is home to get working on that hunger.

To-Do for the week of June 28th through July 4th:

Yowza – it’s the end of June already?!! It’s Independence Day weekend already.

  1. Second annual parade for our littles?? GG and Gamma would have to sit and watch this year!
  2. Back to the apple quilt
  3. Two limit list for another stress-free week!

Oh no!! I bow to your upheaval, I have no reason to complain! Do give everyone a hug and best wishes!!

  2. Cheree Hull says:

Good gracious! You need some stress-FREE time! I will certainly pray! And on that ice cream truck? We live on the edge of the city, far enough out where there are housing additions around us but we are not in one so there’s this big space between us and them–but we can always HEAR the icecream truck. I still feel bad that my kids never got to experience that phenomenon [of course, I sure never did, being on a farm!] and always hoped to catch one as we drove home from somewhere, thinking I’d ask them to stop by! To this day, I would do almost anything to get one to come by here–I think it would be HILARIOUS if I could swing that and then I really would have my now-adult children (and their kids) all pick something!

  3. Oh my goodness what a saga, it reads like a dramatic book plot. Hope life improves but loved your take on the not so good one.

  4. Linda says:

Oh my GOSH! :O What an incredible week, and you and Sue were angels to adapt like you did. Wish I could have been there to cook and drive and help you, but sounds like you sailed (limped?) through it! Praying for all to heal and rest this week.
Thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday – I love to read your posts!

  5. Kathleen McCormick` says:

OMG what a week! I am ready for a nap reading about it. Glad Jeanette finally got her surgery and so sorry for Gamma. Is the ankle broken? Well, I love what happens with the Aunties stays with the Aunties! You are having quite the time juggling all these balls. Good luck with whatever this week throws at you!

  6. Oh My Roseanne. What a week it has been. All I can say is:”Sending hugs, grateful that surgery went well, no broken ankle and what troopers you all are at rolling with the punches”.

  7. Oh me, oh my … what a roller coaster you’ve been on!!!
Glad to hear that Jeanette finally had her surgery and that Gamma only had a sprain.
Had to laugh at the Ice Cream truck story … I’ve heard that one parent once told their child that when the Ice Cream truck was playing music, it meant that it was out of ice cream! (And no, it wasn’t me! LOL)
Make sure that you guys take care of yourselves! HUGS!

  8. Talk about life throwing curve balls! Whew! Well…out with June and in with July! Shut the door behind you! 🙂

  9. Rochelle Summers says:

My, my! What a myriad of challenges! The airplane and the contractor do not surprise me. But GG and Gamma…that’s so awful. So happy you could cheer the kids up with ice cream. We called the drive-up ice cream truck the Good Humor Man!! We could get a Popsicle for 10 cents. How much are they now. I hope the Independence Day parade goes well…not too hot (definitely, not too cold).

  10. Wendy says:

Well, what a week, huh? I’m so glad everyone is okay, but so sorry that your week didn’t play out like you expected. Rest up, the quilting can wait. So nice, though, that you are all so close and can be there for each other!

  11. Vicki in MN says:

Oh wow talk about going down a no fun rabbit hole. Holy cow, I am so sorry your weekend was no where near what you thought it was going to be. I can feel your exhaustion all the way over here!

  12. WOW! What a nonfun happening weekend! I think everyone deserves a medal! It does sound like you all made the best of a bad situation. I would need to sleep for a week after all of that! Praying for a full and speedy recovery for Jeanette and Gamma, and that they will be up and about, enjoying life, soon. Enjoy (maybe?) the second annual littles parade. I’m sure they were as disappointed as you that they didn’t have you all to themselves for the weekend! I certainly hope and pray this is a better week for you all! <>
