To-Do Tuesday #244 Weekly Update

I may have forgotten to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day yesterday, but the sentiment is still the same a day late. Here are three of our favorite valentines, wishing you a very, very, VERY one. Join us today for the 244th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Linda hosts the To-Do Tuesday linky party and we appreciate her weekly encouragement. Thank you, Linda!

To-Do for the week of February 8th through 14th:

  1. Round Five in the SAHRR √ Done
  2. Continue the appliqué blocks for Colt’s quilt – nope – nothing this week
  3. Work on Beau Bear baby quilt – √ Done
  4. Make a mocha cheesecake for Chris – √ Done
  5. Short list limit – no more items allowed to remain stress-free

Another blogger mentioned that their husband makes a tailor clapper. I can’t remember who but I would like to purchase one or two. If you know who this person might be, would you please leave a comment? My memory is best labeled as non-existent. Thank you so much!! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

To Do #1

We are on the FIFTH round already for the Stay At Home Round Round (SAHRR). Can you believe it?! We shared our option just yesterday, choosing between the Rail Fence block or appliqué. The prompt choice was chosen by Quilting Gail, our hostess with a linky party this week. It’s shocking to you, I’m sure, that I choose appliqué. That’s my jam, man.

We are making some progress now, at last. We pinned this on our design wall to get an idea if we liked the little wonky stars on the end of the signature block. It seems to work, don’t you think?!! Yesterday’s post shares all the fun details, including why Addison is spelled using blue fabric. ~smile~

To-Do #2

I didn’t actually do any appliqué on Colt’s quilt blocks since I was literally busy with A.d.d.i.s.o.n. However, I did give his quilt quite a bit of thought. The golf ball looks too one-dimensional to me. I thought I would add some light gray stitching on the top edge of the ball to hint at a curve. I also thought about adding some grass blades fluttering about the tee as that would be more realistic, don’t you think. Please enjoy my crude drawing for a very broad general idea. I welcome any thoughts you have to make the golf ball a bit more exciting! It is a white-on-white dotted fabric to give the impression of dimples.

To-Do #3

Beau Bear baby quilt which was inspired by Gail at Quilting Gail is really taking shape. Oddly enough, our color palette is very similar to Gail’s except for one notable area. Areas, I guess I should technically say since it’s the face, tummy, and bottom of the feet.

We do not have the quilt top complete yet. The final white border needs to be added to all four sides. Also, I need to buttonhole the nose, add some eyes, add a nice smile, and delineate the HST between the ear and the bear body itself. The gray areas are made using Minky. It is nice and soft yet little bumps to catch the baby’s attention. We should wrap this up easily before the end of the month.

To-Do #4

We got a chance to sing Happy Birthday, Daddy with Dominic, Addison, and Chase on Sunday. Colt, Auntie Nicole, and Gamma were present for the big event as well. Let me assure you that Chris is not three, but we did choose to use only three candles.

There were several rounds of blowing out the candles and everyone did a great job! I want to make sure anyone is able to enjoy the recipe if you’d like to. We shared it originally during the Cookie Exchange one year; you’ll find the link to the printable recipe of Mocha Cheesecake here.

To-Do for the week of February 15th through 21st:

  1. Work on the Round Sixth and final prompt for the SAHRR
  2. Keeping working on Beau Bear baby quilt
  3. Sew FIVE apple blocks for Violet, who is turning ONE soon
  4. Just enough to keep it stress-free!

Ah those three precious ones are so cute! Your Addison appliqué looks great, I need to read all the SAHRR posts but haven’t gotten to any of them yet! I am LOL at all the suggestions for the golf ball, especially Cheree’s. I have a little bit of “golf ball” fabric. It has the dimples already on it – would you like it? I’d LOVE to send it to you. The minky on the bear quilt is genius.
Thank you for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

I got all excited when I saw you had made me a cheesecake….and then my hopes were dashed!! LOL. Looks like wonderful time for all.

  3. Mary says:

I absolutely love Addison’s appliqued name. Applique is definitely your jam and not so much mine!

  4. Congrats on all the progress last week. That teddy bear is so cute! Happy stitching this week.

  5. Hi Roseanne. Sweet Valentine themed littles in their red outfits, Cheesecake for Dady’s birthday and Beau Bear! So much family love in your ToDo Post. For your golf ball can you fine a white with pale grey polka dot scrap? That might make the dimples stand out more and give the ball some dimension? I just looked at DH’s golf balls to see what I could suggest. That and the lines might work? 😉

  6. Love that photo of the three gorgeous children. And I scroll in to check out the quilt behind them as well! Love. Nice to know appliqué is your jam. It is my least one for me. Fiddly! Love what you are doing with the Baby Bear quilt too.

  7. Fun, fun!! Things are coming along. Me, not so much! LOL

  8. You had me at mocha cheesecake, Roseanne! Yum! Looks like a fun time with the family. I love your Beau Bear, too. Looks like he went together really fast!

  9. Kathleen McCormick says:

You got a lot done. I agree some embellishment of the golf ball would be helpful. That cheesecake looks yum!

What a great post and so full of photos. I like the suggestion of the name on the golf ball….only use Colt’s name. My sewing machine has the ability to make letters. Wonder if yours does as well. Might need to use some stabilizer on the balls. And as for the bear quilt, it is darling. You only started it a few weeks ago and you are almost done! It will be bright and cheerful. Love the minky tummy.

    Hi,
You could make some French Knots for the dimples on your Golf Ball. I love the Teddy Bear quilts…so cute.
I really like the addition of Addison to your SAHRR quilt…and the color you used really makes it pop…I’m going to check out your Mocha Cheesecake recipe. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!

  12. The teddybear quilt is adorable! Nice job.

  13. Cheree Hull says:

I like the addition of a little something to the golf ball. I suppose writing Titleist Pro V1 is out?? Yeah, okay, would probably not be fully appreciated by a younger eye. OK for realz, my thought is that the lines would be on the lower portion though–not where the sun is hitting it but where the sun is not, kwim? Though I can do a few stitches, embroidery is not my thing (okay, I like cross stitch but never take the time) so I’d be doing something by machine. Your bear quilt is looking most excellent and plz give those Valentines an extra hug! What a cute pic!

  14. You accomplish a great deal this week! Where have I been? I completely missed all about Beau Bear! He’s adorable ! I’m going to look for Mocha Cheesecake recipe!

  15. Wendy says:

Golf balls have dimples, so you could add some to yours by stitching some little x’s to indicate the dimples? Not sure you want to do that much work, but just a thought! The teddy quilt is coming along nicely!
