To-Do Tuesday #211 Weekly Listing Update
Happy Birthday, Betsy! Join us today for the 211th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We are joining Chris at her To-Do Tuesday linky party. Thanks for the fun, Chris!
To-Do for the week of May 4th – 10th:
- Make some QOV blocks correctly – √ Done
- Sew Follow Your Own Path blocks – √ Done
- Find my sewing mojo . . . – √ Done
For a quilt of valor using the Road to Oklahoma block, we need to make 35 of them for a decent size lap quilt. It’s our May One Monthly Goal project. Once we discovered that they are pieced incorrectly it was time to rip and resew. I have to say the correct layout does highlight the cute four-patch in the center as well as form a nifty star when abutted. Phew!
Wrong layout on the left and corrected layout on the right in the above photos – we managed to get one row together. Six more to go and it completely fills up the width of the design wall.
We joined Sandra’s quilt-along called Follow Your Own Path which started in early April. Her QAL runs through mid-June, thank heavens since we just got our act together this week. Sandra has shared her first dozen blocks.
Did you know that Follow is 2.5″ strip-friendly? Thanks to Sue for noticing that, so we finally landed on a Kona solid strip set for our arrows. For the background, we chose a Moda print called Howl and Hound that I picked up in 2018. The orange set of strips too closely match the reds so we will add yellow instead. We managed to get all four red blocks complete.
The sewing mojo is sorta back. Sue didn’t have to hold a weapon to me back into the sewing room – I went willingly. Jack the ripper has been in use more this month than it had been in all of 2020. Ugg.
Our one monthly goal (OMG) project for May is to complete the 35 blocks needed for the Quilt of Valor (QOV) gift and Hands2Help project. Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a monthly linky party which we did join at the beginning of the month.
To-Do for the week of May 11th through 17th:
- Make the four yellow Follow blocks
- Sew a few more Road to OK blocks
- Find a hiding place for Jack the ripper for the rest of the month!
