To-Do Listing #53 Update

This is our 53rd edition of our weekly to-do list.  The start of our second year of these lists.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Monday, and Tuesday’s linky party can be found on Christine’s Stitch All the Things website. ~smile~

To-Do for the week April 9th through 15th:

  1. Order fabric for new Mystery QAL – √ done
  2. Sew strips together for 16-patch Spiral quilt – √ done
  3. Sew borders on one GK table runner – √ done
  4. Quilt another quarter of the Animal panel quilt – √ done

To-Do #1

We joined the second Mystery QAL hosted by Tracy and Cindy.  It started on April 1, and we did order the fabric for this QAL from Connecting Threads along with another coordinating fabric from the same line.  We discussed a few ideas for this project but we have until the end of June to get it finished.  We’ll duke it out and come up with a mutually approved project.

To-Do #2

Sue has opened two jelly rolls to make two of the 16-patch Framed 4-patch quilt.  That name is so user unfriendly – I’m going to come up with a different name.  I started sewing the centers of the framed blocks.  We did make it once before, and it is a nice pattern in that it uses up almost ALL of the jelly roll.  I spiral quilted it which was fun as well.  Maybe I’ll refer to this quilt as Spiral going forward.  The photo on the left shows the first Spiral quilt, and the photo on the right shows our center blocks with two frames loosely laid around them.

To-Do #3

Back to work on the UFO list, and I really want to get these Grandma’s Kitchen blocks into table runners.  There are three more of them to make – but one at a time works for me.  The first one we are adding navy borders and sashing to the five blocks.

GK Runner #2

Half of the table runner – it is long!

To-Do #4

Since our April goal is half done, I don’t feel I need to stress over it too much.  But I do want to make sure it is complete with the binding by the end of the month.  Little Dominic loves to poke at those diamond shapes that are formed by the crosshatch on the diagonal.  He can’t figure out why he can’t pick them up!

Animal Panel 7

I love the cross-hatch look

April OMG Goal:

Our Elm Street Quilts April OMG goal is to quilt and bind the second animal panel quilt.  This is also on our PHD list of UFOs.

To-Do April 16th through 22nd:

  1. Determine a layout for I Spy (and start sewing?)
  2. Frame centers for Spiral
  3. Layer GK table runner #1 and quilt
  4. Wrap up quilting on our April OMG

We wish you a week filled with many blessings and good sewing/quilting vibes!

  1. Roseanne, I really like the what’s its name quilt and the grandmas kitchen blocks! They both will make very interesting projects! 😊

  2. Cindy says:

Roseanne, oh I really liked the framed four patch. Great candidate for scrappy. I also am fond of the grandmas kitchen blocks. So much fun! 😊

  3. That framed 4 patch will be beautiful. It will be fun to watch you progress on it. Good luck with the “duking it out” to determine what you’ll make.

I was in such a rush to get caught up on posts yesterday that I missed noting it had been one year since you started linking up! THANK YOU joining in on the list/goal making fun for the past year. I have loved being able to see everything you’ve been working on, and Dominic pictures too, of course!

I just can’t get over how much I love that tone-on-tone white dot fabric. That name is a bit unweildy for that quilt. I do love how the 16 patches look a bit pixelated. The spiral quilting is awesome; I love that name for the quilt! I did chuckle thinking of the baby trying to pick up the “diamonds”. How sweet!

  5. Wow, your first Spiral quilt is so nice – I love the quilting! Naming quilts is difficult for me, it takes me forever, but I agree that 16 patch framed 4 patch is quite a mouthful. LOL

  6. Kathryn says:

All such wonderful plans for quilts and you are getting on with them too. I am keeping warm now under my GK quilt and loving it more each day which is good because I wasn’t so keen on it at first. Love the navy on your table runner and the cross hatch on the quilt, love how he tries to pick them up!

Looks like a great list. May you accomplish them all.

  8. Looks like you have some good quilting plans made. It will be fun to see your progress!
