To-Do #76 Tuesday and Weekly List Update
Join us today for the 76th linky party post and the 196th weekly To-Do Tuesday list and update. We had 34 friends link up last week. Gladys Taber wrote, “Contentment is a list with half of it crossed off.” We may not be posting the rest of the week because we are moving our blog hosting site. Don’t worry – we’ll be back soon!
To-Do January 12th through 18th:
- Get Round One ready for Monday’s reveal – √ Done
- Sew the eggplant block – √ Done
- Solider on with our OMG project – √ Done
The launch of the SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin) was quite successful. All seven of us bloggers shared our center block and the word for the week is diversity. Oodles of different blocks were shared in Quilter Gail’s linky party if you care to take a peek. Most are also sharing their prettiness on Instagram with the hashtag #stayathomeroundrobin. We shared our Round One post just yesterday with the addition of piano keys to our center elongated churn dash block. What’s that? No, I don’t mind at all sharing a picture here!
As we came to find out the hard way . . . I incorrectly cut the length of the keys at 3″ instead of 3.5″ for a 3″ finished size. You’ll notice a very thin border added to this piece as Round 1.5 before we began sewing on Round Two. HAHA! An unscheduled extra round for us.
Sewing along with Jen at Patterns By Jen on the monthly color challenge has been a pleasure for the last two years and 2021 is no different. The January color is eggplant and it carries with it the theme of a pinwheel. Since that is our OMG focus venture it isn’t difficult to say that we enjoy a good pinwheel block and project. Handily enough, since to-do #3 is OFF of the design wall we could place this on it for its photo op!
When I said we would soldier on with our OMG project last week, I made it sound like it was a chore or difficult. Nothing could be further from the truth as this is one of the easiest quilt tops I’ve ever put together. Plus, the fabrics are fun to work with – you can’t help but smile as you’re pressing and see the pinwheel take shape. I’ve been accused (in a nice way!) that I’ve been flaunting this fabric and quilt top. Denise, I hope this is the last time I’ll share a picture of this quilt top until it’s all quilted. ~smile~
Inspiration for the quilting of this piece came from my friend Vicki at Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting. One of her favorite designs is the swirl hook and she actually shared details about how she quilts the design. While I can’t actually say she wrote and drew the instructions for me, I can say that I appreciated her little tutorial and you may as well. I think this will be a great look to finish off this quilt.
This month, we will focus on the 4-Patch Plus and get it to the finished quilt top stage. We have already linked this project up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts and her January One Monthly Goal linky party. I’d love to get it quilted now.
