To-Do #52+17 Weekly Update

This is our 69th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We share this post on Beth’s Cooking Up Quilts website on Mondays, and Christine’s Stitch All the Things website on Tuesdays.  Check it out as other friends post their to-do lists as well! ~smile~

To-Do for the week July 30th through August 5th:

  1. Finish layout the second Plus Playtime quilt for Luke – √ done
  2. Start sewing it – √ done

To-Do #1 & 2

The layout for the second Plus Playtime is all set.  His new house has been painted in shades of gray, taupe and black.  We used those same colors in his quit.

As you can assume by the missing rows in the picture above, we did also start sewing it together.  As of this writing, rows one and two are together with three to follow closely behind.  I believe this may be a Christmas gift so there really isn’t any rush on getting it all together.

 August OMG

For our Elm Street Quilts’ August OMG we are going to quilt and bind Garden Gate.  This will also complete a UFO from last October!  I would love to try Beth’s floppy feathers for the allover quilting pattern on this but I’m not sure I could pull it off.  Keeping the feathers a similar size is where my downfall will be – that along with breaking the thread when I’ve tried to practice (possibly moving the fabric too quickly, I suspect).  Three weeks to go!

To-Do August 6th through 12th:

  1. Finish sewing Luke’s Plus Playtime
  2. Determine layout for Pixel Heart

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

  1. Roseanne, I think you should do the floppy feathers! Go for it! Set yourself free! 😊

  2. Hi Roseanne, love the fabrics in the second playtime plus quilt — definitely very male!! Can’t wait to see how you quilt the Garden Gate — so pretty!

Hello Roseanne; Such a rich array of fabric choices for the Plus quilt! It is going to be a perfect quilt for Luke (not that I would know….hee, hee, hee…) so I should say male. I have always loved Scrap Quilts and your Garden Quilt is lovely with the lovely variety of florals split up with the white. It will be a wonderful snuggle quilt no matter how you decide to quilt it. Yet something tells me and most of your other friendly commenters that we all feel you will do a majestic Freemotion quilting design with the floppy feathers! Just set your mind at having a fun time while listening to some old classic rock and roll from when we were teenagers (LOL…never thought we would ever say that…LOL) AC/DC Back in Black album or get into my favorite country singer Toby Keith. You will just be dancing with that quilt and free motion foot! Is there anything you like to do while you are free motion quilting? I do look forward to seeing both of these quilts finished! Thank you for sharing and have a splendid day! Say hello to Sue for me also!!

It will be such a striking quilt when done! I think you can do the feathers, just believe!!! LOL

  5. Kathryn says:

All the best with the fmq, its a challenge and I totally get trying to keep it all one size. And doing it on a quilt brings its own challenges, experienced quilters always make it look so easy!

:ove the colour choices in your second Plus Playtime..I’ve chosen the fabrics for mine, but haven’t started yet. I wasn’t sure what floppy feathers were, so I googled them and saw a you tube video……go for them……when my baby comes back I’ll try them on a quilt.

  7. Shannon Fleming says:

Looks like it will be a good week in the sewing room. Have fun!

  8. Go for the floppies! I think you can do it (says she who doesn’t free motion much yet)! I do love that fabric in Garden Gate! Yay for you making another Plus Playtime too.
