To-Do #112 Weekly Progress Update

Happy June.  This is the 112th edition of our weekly to-do list.  We usually share this post on Christine’s Stitch All the Things and Dione’s Clever Chameleon website on Tuesdays.  Check out what our friends are sharing!

To-Do for the week of May 27th through June 2nd:

  1. Enjoy the heck out of Monday, a day off work! –  done
  2. Start celebrating Sue’s birthday month – √ done
  3. Choose fabrics for Cinderella quilt – √ done

To-Do #1

Memorial Day weekend is in the books, and we had a fabulous time laying low.  We saw the littles both Saturday and Sunday, and we enjoyed coffee with Sue’s mom all three days.  Early Saturday morning it was nice enough for a little slow walking with a sweet boy leading the way.  Addi and I rounded out the pack with the stroller as she was just about ready for a little nap.  Here’s proof that we did have sunshine one day at 7:12 a.m. ♥ ♥

DJ slow walk

Monday morning dawned early with sunshine as well, but the rain returned by noon.  Plenty of time for the Memorial Day parade to go off without being hampered by a downpour.  We sewed on a little Beothuk, finished up some Bee Hive blocks and did some quilting along with making the first guac of the season.  What a fabulous day and we hope yours was just as delightful.

To-Do #2

June is Sue’s birthday month, and we try to celebrate each and every day.  A strawberry/rhubarb pie from the Elegant Farmer is not to be missed, so we took a little ride to pick one up.  It comes in a brown bag in which you bake it in and then you have to wait less than patiently for time to be up.  It gets nice and crispy on the top but not burned.  Vanilla ice cream melting over a slice is beyond divine as you are sure you are in paradise while eating it.  Y.u.m.  Whipped cream substitutes in a pinch.

To-Do #3

Poor Addison!  She has been alive for five months already (today on June 4th) and still finds herself laying on her brother’s quilt when visiting.  Actually, not just at our house but also at home and grandma’s house too.  We are out to change that situation by starting on the Cinderella quilt for her and grandma.  Sue pulled out the perfect shade of blue which we deemed “Cindy blue” along with a passel of yellows.

The giraffe fabric doesn’t really go, but we’re going to add it in for sentimental value and to have a tie into George the giraffeWe decided to use a fabric called “Fog” that I had picked up from Craftsy during a sale last November.  It was the end-of-the-bolt five yards that I couldn’t pass up.  You never know when it will come in handy, right?!

June OMG

Our June OMG (one monthly goal) is to quilt and bind our Hidden Star quilt.  We join Patty at Elm Street Quilts and her linky party.  We picked up the backing for this when visiting my brother and SIL and it’s a beauty if I do say so myself.

To-Do for the week of June 3rd through 9th

  1. Beothuk blocks together – the linky party is approaching quickly
  2. Sew some HSTs for Cinderella quilt
  3. Celebrate Sue’s birthday!

Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

  3. Christine says:

What a wonderful weekend! I have to tell you, I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for a little over 5 weeks and have been doing great with not being tempted by ANYTHING. Nothing at all (it’s actually quite shocking to me). Until I read your description of the strawberry rhubarb pie with the melting scoop of vanilla ice cream. Hold my diet water, because I need to get me some of that! LOL!! I love the fabric pull for the cinderella quilt!

Happy birthday to Sue! How lovely to celebrate all month long, and oh my gosh that pie sounds divine – I actually prefer cream to ice cream in my cherry and rhubarb pies. Well, fruit pies of any kind. LOL I look forward to seeing all the wonderful advancement on your quilts. Enjoy every day!

  5. Barbara Esposito, The Quilted B says:

Oh my gorsh! That picture of Sue and the little man melts my heart!

  6. Denise says:

Another full month for you I see. I love the “littles” title. Monday I got to spend time with my soon to be step grandson while my baby and his momma went to help sandbag in town. I’d forgotten how much I love spending time with an active toddler.

  7. Brenda Ackerman says:

Hello Roseanne, We were discussing Rhubarb Pie last night ourselves. We are waiting patiently for our three plants to be ready to harvest and Kevin to make up a pie or two and then prepare the remainder for canning. That way we can have it any time we want throughout the year! I look forward to seeing the quilt that you and Sue create for Addy! Have a fantastic day! Sue, have another special Birthday Celebrating Day!!!

  8. chrisknits says:

Happy Birthday to Sue from another 31 day celebrant, Jan has 31 days so I get an extra! I’m special like that. LOL!

  9. I love that you celebrate a Sue’s birthday each day in the month – the strawberry rhubarb pie sounds yummy!! It is a favorite of mine but to have the work done but the effect of homemade – perfection! I can’t believe Addi is missing so many quilts – good thing to be starting up – look forward to watching its progress.

  10. I haven’t finished my coffee or had my breakfast, and I’m reading about pie and ice cream. It sounds delicious! Somehow I think the two kiddos will never lack for quilts! Looking forward to hearing what’s next for Sue’s birthday month!

  11. That strawberry rhubarb pie looks awesome! I love that you are including some giraffe fabric in the Cinderella quilt for Addy. Hope Sue has a great birthday month. I’m totally on board with extending birthday celebrations! Have a great day, Mary.
