Sunbonnet Sue Appliqué Mini Quilt or Wall Hanging
First Quilt – Appliqué Sunbonnet Sue
One of the first quilts we ever made was an appliqué sunbonnet Sue little wall hanging. It was fun to make and very colorful, too.
I am sure if you look closely you will see plenty of errors – so please don’t! HAHA Even now, she brings a smile to my face. This little quilt is hanging on our backdoor – the door out to the garage – so I look at it at least once a day and usually more.
It also has the cutest hangers in the shape of sunbonnet Sue herself! How cute is that?! I cannot remember where we got the hangers, and it has been so long that I am sure they aren’t sold any longer. We actually sewed it to the wall hanging.
This does make me want to start/make another quilt or wall hanging like this (not that I need to add anything to our project list). The original pattern from the mid-80s was printed by the Little Quilt Collection and is called Friends. I also found this free pattern in a Google search, that gives credit to the original artist:
Does it peak your interest and make you want to go in search of some 30s fabrics to make your own little wall hanging or even a bigger quilt? I told Sue that I would be willing to add this to appliqué list. I am almost finished with the second alphabet for the ABCs quilt number two, after all. ~smile~

It’s so nice that you have the first quilt you made, and that it is displayed in your home. And those hangers are adorable! Thanks for sharing your quilt on MCM!
Hi Beth! Thanks so much for your nice comment ~smile~
