September Rainbow Ripples OMG Complete

For our September OMG or one monthly goal project, we chose to complete the Rainbow Ripples (free pattern available in link) quilt top.  We are very thankful that Patty at Elm Street Quilts hosts a linkup party each month.  Her monthly linkup has inspired us to finish over 24 projects that may or may not have been completed without it!  Rainbow Ripples came very, very close to becoming a UFO and stashed away in a closet.

September OMG Rainbow Project

After getting discouraged and being unhappy with the quilting patterns I had chosen and tried, Sue talked some sense into me.  These are the two designs I tried and that we ripped out.

Sue had wanted the wavy look with the ruler all along, and I finally saw the light and acquiesced.  The look on the sample practice sandwich turned out okay . . . so Rainbow Ripples finally had a quilting design I could get behind.

September Ripples Complete

Since the September OMG is to quilt and bind the Rainbow Ripples quilt top, we have another successful month!

Ripples binding

I washed and dried the quilt once the binding was complete. Addison helped me pull it out of the drier.  Just as soon as I placed it on the floor for a photo, she crawled right on it!  I’d say it was Addison approved.  ~smile~

Is there anything better than a baby in her jammies reaching out to touch the colors in a quilt?  Well, yes, I suppose there are better things . . . but none spring to mind at this moment.  Needless to say, I scooped her up and read her that Shapes book featuring Abbie from Sesame Street.  Finally, here’s one last shot of the finished quilt, sans baby.
