The Second Sew Along Winner Is

Home Sewn By Us

Starts July 1st!

Last week we gathered votes for the pattern to be used in our second sew along.  We tried to pick a few different free patterns that may be interpreted in different ways as our choices.  This sew along has NO STRESS.  No prizes, no hurry to get it complete, just do it if you want to.  This is supposed to be f.u.n. or else it is w.o.r.k.  If you want to, you could have this finished project easily before the holidays.  And for our southern hemisphere friends in NZ, AU, etc., before the heat of summer starts.  So which quilt won?

Briefly Meet the Contenders:

  • Sew Along Choice #1

The Up From Here block and quilt was shared originally in 2013.

  • Sew Along Choice #2

A Snowball’s Chance block and quilt was designed by Barbara in 2017.

  • Sew Along Choice #3

Last but not least is Triangle Quilt by Peta at She Quilts A Lot.

The Voting Selected . . .

#1 and #3 – a tie!!

Sew Along #2Sew Along Results

Thank you to each of your who did cast your vote! As a result of the 33 votes received between June 5th and June 10th, I still cannot believe we have a tie.  Now the question becomes, what the heck are we going to do since there’s a tie?!  I say we each choose the one you like the best, or hopefully the one you voted for, and sew that.  There may be 33 participants or less, and if we’re lucky maybe even more will join in!  If Sue and I have time we will sew all three – I know, that’s ambitious but that’s how I roll.  By the way, Sue is saying NO WAY. ~smile~

What’s Next???

Decide if you’d like to join us!  Leave a comment below if you plan to join in and which pattern you will be making.  The sew along starts on July 1.  I’ll share a post of all the participants, and any fabric choices they may have shared on their blog, Facebook or IG.  Here is the IG hashtag if you want to share that way:  #nostressSAL.  This will be fun – a little different than I expected but f.u.n. nonetheless!

Our Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link for more quilting fun or on the sidebar of our website – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and share pictures of your current project.  We love to see them.  ~smile~

I am late to the party but would like to join the sew along if it is not too late. I will make up from here. Janice.snell@gmail.com. I did make the regatta quilt in January but lost track of who was organizing the sew along. I have now subscribed by email. Thanks.

Ha, ha, I still haven’t finished Regatta! But maybe if I start in August, when school is over, I can get them both done in a timely fashion. I’m picking Up From Here, I think, because I wanted to do that since I first saw the block on Stash Bee a while back.

I’m in, I think I voted for #1, Up from Here. Now to decide on the fabric…..

  4. Shirley says:

I would love to join but I haven’t decided which one to do. They are all so intriguing.

I’m hoping to keep up with number 1…hard choice between this and 3…

Well, since I have your permission to not join in the sew-along … I will probably decline the wonderful offer to sew-along … but I will FOLLOW-along and watch all of the people do their own magic with various fabric selections! Happy Quilting! 🙂

I’m in. I’ll do the triangle quilt.

  8. farmquilter says:

I want to do #1 – for the modern quilting possibilities or to make a reversible quilt! Love it!

  9. I wish I had time to do one…. it would be #1. But I still haven’t finished the last no-stress sew along top into a quilt. So no more starting UFOs for me just now! But I will be cheering from the sidelines. 🙂

  10. Shannon Fleming says:

I’m in and I’ll be doing #1. Was looking at the block size and the pattern and the numbers don’t seem to add up. Maybe I’m not awake yet, but 24″ blocks can’t possibly add up to 62×88. I think it should be 72 x 96 for the size they are showing. So, I think I will reduce the size of the block to make a smaller quilt.

  11. Choices, indeed! Variety is the spice of life, no? So it sounds like fun. I plan to join in, but do remind us closer to the date, eh? Thanks!

#3 looks interesting, good to use up your scraps, but I’ll have to pass on this QAL…. too many other projects and not enough time. Linda

  13. Choices Choices…I voted for up from here but now I want the triangle quilt ! My motto for the rest of the year is “too make it all make it small”. So I’m sure I’ll figure out a way to do both 🙂

  14. Liz Horgan says:

I missed the voting, but would like to try and sew along. I’m back and forth between the triangle quilt and up from here–I’ll decide as I get closer!
