SAHRR Round Two Is A Plus
Better late than never . . . that’s what I’m thinking. Are you joining us and six of our blogger friends for the Stay-At-Home Round-Robin (SAHRR) quilt sew-along? If you’re not and would like to join in, it certainly isn’t too late. You will find links to pick-your-block and Round One details listed below. It’s a big plus that you’ll find it very easy to catch up. And speaking of a plus . . .

Emily Introduces a Plus
A Plus Sign block, that is! Emily from The Darling Dogwood is the host for Round Two and she chose the Plus Sign block. Drafted to the basic level, it closely resembles a nine-patch block. Perhaps easier than a nine-patch, the center row is made with one solid piece of fabric instead of three pieces since it’s all the same color. We decided this was a good place to introduce more white fabric as a place to rest your eyes.

A Plus of Variety
We had a plethora of 1.5″ strips leftover from Round One’s piano keys. Naturally, we thought we may as well use them so our Plus Sign blocks became 3″ finished size. This is also when we discovered that I had wanted the previous row to be 3″ finished and should have been trimmed to 3.5″. Dang it. This necessitated a skinny little border to be added to make up for this difference or going forward the math would have been horrendous. Oops! We’re calling that Round 1.5.
The extra 1.5″ strips were enclosed with white strips and then cut apart for the first and third rows of the Plus Sign block. A quick insert of the solid-colored piece along with a couple of seams and we were in business.

Celebrate the Plus Sign
I am happy to report that we are back on track after completing Round Two.

Our piece measures 21.5″ x 24.5″ which is right where it should be at this point. I can hardly wait to add Round 3! Click the links if you’d like to read about our center medallion block or the piano keys for Round One.

Love your new border! I like that you are doing all your borders (so far) in what appears to be moda marbles~~!!! Have a swell day and I’m emailing you!!
I love your plus border, Roseanne! Such pretty color all around. And the narrow red border works really nicely in between the piano keys and the pluses. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next, too!
So very colorful! The white was a good choice, it does open up the quilt a bit. Looking forward to seeing what the next round is going to be.
