SAHRR It’s Time For the Round One Proclamation
It’s time for the SAHRR (Stay-At-Home-Round-Robin) Round One proclamation! Six of our quilting blogging friends are joining up to host a SAHRR starting officially today. Typically, a round-robin involves sending your piece off to friends for them to add the next ’round’. Eventually, after all the rounds, the piece would make it back to you nearly complete. Instead, you will be sewing all the rows/rounds with no mailing involved. If you’d like to join in, we announced the first mission of choosing a block that you’d like to feature in your quilt. It can be any block you like/love – you’ll be adding seven ’rounds’ to it. Chris from Chris Knits Sews is the host for this week.

Piano Key Proclamation
Round One, or the first border, is the piano key to add to your center medallion block. As shown above, there are different versions of piano key borders. On the left, the piano keys are set at a 90-degree angle in the corners. Another option, on the right, leaves the corner blank or void of keys. You might want to add a different block into that blank corner spot as an alternate election.
Our Piano Proclamation
We chose the 90-degree option shared above. Of course, our piano keys are made from bright colors without a hint of white fabric in sight. Sue cut some 1.5″ strips which I sewed together lengthwise.

These Crayola Kaleidoscope fabrics are a tone-on-tone in rich, saturated colors. So nice! Once the strips were altogether, it was time to trim them into 3″ section pieces. (Note to self – that was 3″ finished . . . too bad I didn’t think of that before I cut and sewed them on! Oops.)

We tried each section until we were pleased with the color placement. In total, we used five sections. One for each side and the fifth one was taken apart to add length to the other two sections.
A Very Pleasing Proclamation
I know you’d like one more look at our center elongated churn dash center block surrounded by a piano key border!

It’s time to link up your Round 1 piece – the linky will be open all week!
