Reversible Summer Tote
I stumbled on this tutorial by Katie Blakesley (click here for her website) today, and thought it might make a good candidate for the nursing fabric I have burning a hole in my sewing pocket. Not that I need another thing to add to my project list, but it IS a bag . . . and it probably wouldn’t take long to whip one up . . .
What do you think? A reversible tote is nice – two bags in one! The fabrics she chose by Benartex are very cute called The Big Apple, but it seems they are no longer available (the article came out in 2013). The colors immediately reminded me of the fabric we found for the small pouch we made for our niece who is in nursing school:
As you can see in the picture below, the color palate for our fabric is very similar to what Katie used in her bag. We don’t have as much of the nurse hat fabric in black – maybe only a yard or so. Perhaps it would be better to make two separate bags featuring each fabric instead of both fabrics in one bag:
The bag is a nice size when finished at 14″ x 16″ and the lining has a inner pocket too. I’ll have to give this some more thought, I guess. I have posted this tutorial in our new Pinterest site for Home Sewn By Us. All our articles get posted there if you’d like to follow us!
