It’s going to be an awesome project. Love your fabrics!

  3. Roseanne this will be a beautiful, appropriate quilt to gift to a very deserving man who not only served his country as a military man but continued on to serve his country by guiding the young. I think it will be stunning, love the fabrics and the pattern. I often use it to make baby quilts. It’s a go to pattern for me along with the churn dash.

  4. Yes that is the perfect block IMO because it is near and dear to my heart – I was born and raised in Oklahoma! I’ve been meaning to make something with that block for over 10 years. Maybe watching your progress will get me in gear. Beautiful fabrics! Nice that the layout you choose makes those secondary stars.

It will be wonderful to present this quilt to the Veteran, how sweet of you to think of it.

What a lovely idea and what do I think! I think you get an A on all your decisions! Love how the road to Oklahoma plays out. All the best, can’t wait to see you get into it and yay for the MSQC.

That’s a great soldier quilt. QOV says “The recommended size of a Quilt of Valor is 60″ x 80″; it must be a minimum of 55″ x 65″ and maximum of 72″ x 90”, but American Hero Quilts says, “Quilts should be approximately 63×87 inches. We find that many of the warriors need the extra length and width to keep warm.”

So that gives you a range of size. =) I think this will be a wonderful quilt for the principal! You’ve made some great fabric choices, too.

I love those fabrics and they will make such an awesome QOV for a special person. The backing fabric is great too. And so wonderful that you already have a quilting plan. I’m sure your principal will love it.

  10. I sense an uptick in enthusiasm! Such a perfect project, perfectly timed, too. A needed pick-you-up during these times.
The fabrics appear to have golden stars and streaks. I like that added subtle sparkle. And the backing! Leave it to you guys to find something so perfect! (Again with that word)
Such a magnanimous gesture of appreciation for a collegue- but then that’s just the kind of gals you are!

  11. That’s going to be a great quilt, Roseanne! I liked the block, but then made into those stars, it becomes amazing! Your principal is going to love it.
