Project Quilting 11.2 Challenge Team Update

pq-challenge-11.2

We are giving the Project Quilting challenge a try.  We missed the first challenge but 11.2 (season 11, second challenge) was released on Sunday at noon.  I was sort of stalking the website, awaiting rather impatiently patiently for the announcement.  I poked around and checked out many of the sponsors.  There are so really cool sponsors . . . but let’s worry about the challenge first.  One week to make something with the inspiration for Team Colors.

GB Prairie Points

This is NOT our project!  However, we did take inspiration from the fabrics used for a Packers ornament.  In spite of Sunday night’s football game, the Green Bay Packers are a team we stand behind.  We’re not fair-weather fans.  I was a Chicago Bear fan when Jim McMahon was the QB.  Wisconsin is very lucky to have many great choices like the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Brewers, the UW Badgers, the Admirals (hockey), and many others.

11.2 Team Green and Gold

Team quilting

Packers lover or not, just about everyone knows their colors are Green and Gold.  Sue pulled the fabrics for me and marked the “X” and the “+” symbols on the batting for me.  What are we making?  Why a Team Packers cozy, of course, and the link will take you to a tutorial to make your own.

The next step is to quilt the layers together and sew the darts on all four sides.  After that, the right sides of the fabrics are matched together and pinned.  Next, a seam was sewn around all four sides leaving a small opening for turning.  Finally, the corners are clipped, it was flipped right-sides-out, and then it’s time for top-stitching.  The top-stitching serves to close the opening quite nicely.

Team 11.2 Finish

Does anyone need a Packers cozy that handily holds three spools/cones of thread?  I am happy to say that we finished the 11.2 Project Quilting one week challenge.  It was great fun to participate, and we’ll play along next time.  Super Bowl Sunday is the release date for PQ 11.3, which is on February 2.  Millions will observe Miami, the Chiefs play against the 49ers, and all of the festivities, including our home.  Somehow, I’ll find time to stalk the release again that day.  Some photos will be shared on Instagram using the hashtags #projectquilting and #pqSeason11 along with tagging @PerisimonDreams and @QuiltChicken.

Team DrEAMi, Too!

This fun and quick little cozy project also easily qualifies as a DrEAMi project.  We definitely Dropped Everything And Made it this week.  Sandra at mmmQuilts hosts a monthly linky party that we are thrilled to participate in as often as we can.  We’ll be enjoying a Granny Smith apple while checking all the other DrEAMi projects today!

Join us as we host a weekly linky party called To-Do Tuesday.  The Linky Parties we join can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

  3. Hi Roseanne! I had not heard of the Project Quilting Challenge so it was great to learn about it.
I love you team cozy! 🏈

  4. Those bowl cozies are the perfect use for your team fabric, Roseanne! I should make one for my son in Denver Broncos fabric – I’ll have to look for some!

  5. That is so great! I am a little unhappy with the Red Sox at the moment; the team I follow the most, so I think it is not happening for me this week. Maybe next week will inspire….of course, I am itching to do anything besides whats on my list so you never know if the squirrel will win!

Hello Roseanne, I adore your bowl cozies and am sure they will be a big hit with all of your Packers family fans! You may want to create a few more or yours may just disappear in the blink of an eye. LOL. Congrats on another fun goal being met! Have a wonderful day!

  7. Love the cozies. One week is a challenging timeline for a project and I guess that’s the point of project quilting. Looking forward to seeing what you’ll come up with for future challenges.
