Pinwheel Rail Fence – John’s Quilt Finished
Queen size quilt number four is complete! We received three requests for queen size quilts within days of each other. This one is for John, and he gave us the most freedom. His only qualification was that it had to be blue. All three siblings had blue in their quilt – the blue/gray Jimmy John quilt, the Cubs Clark quilt, and now this Pinwheel Rail Fence quilt (or Sue refers to it as Big Blue).
Pinwheel Inspiration
This picture very closely depicts John’s quilt. I love the two different pinwheels that are formed in both the darkest and lightest blue. I’ll share a shot of the quilt top before we had it quilted by our friends at Corner to Corner:
It is actually extra wide and long because John is well over six feet tall. We don’t want his feet sticking out when it is time to snuggle under it. I mentioned this before but it impossible to get the light blue to show in a picture. Here is a closeup with a white sock on the edge of the quilt to show it is not white:

You can see the finished quilt below. The binding has been added in the dark blue, and width of white Bella fabric has been added just to show the light blue color:
Here is a closeup of the quilting and the back:
We are really happy with how this turned out, and I hope John is, too. ~smile~
Our Linky Parties page shows our quilting friends’ websites- see what they’re up to. Like/follow us on our Facebook page and share your finished quilt pictures! We would love to see them. Thank you!
Very nice. The quilting adds to the snuggle factor. I’m sure John will love it.
Hi Peggy! I think he does like it – he’s a man of few words. He did actually smile for a picture with it though. ~smile~ Roseanne
That looks perfect on the bed – nice job!
Hi Susan,
Thank you so much! ~smile~ Roseanne
I love doing rail fence quilts.
Hi Marsha,
Thank you so much for your visit and comment. I like making them, too, and didn’t realize there were so many layout variations. ~smile~ Roseanne
