Orange June Monthly Challenge Block

Orange you glad you popped into today to learn that orange is the color of the month?  For the monthly challenge block, that is, hosted by Jen at Patterns By Jen.  Pop over to her website if you’d like to play along, and who wouldn’t with this cute pattern?!  It is available for free from Jen’s website through the month of June.

Orange Times Three

Jen’s flower inspiration for this month’s fabulous orange block is called Sundaze Blaze Starflower.  Lovely isn’t it?!  I wouldn’t mind having this flower in spots throughout my garden.

These two photos are from Jen’s website!

I think the wonderful solid fabrics she chose to represent the starflower are just perfect.  They each reflect a fun pop in each portion of the Sundaze Blaze variety.

Our Orange Version

We had one pretty orange fabric selected and set aside to make our block, but alas that will not do.  Returning to the fabric drawer to select a complimentary orange fabric is necessary as three fabrics are definitely required for this month’s block.  We will continue to use the Sand Swiss dot fabric as we have in the earlier blocks in this series.  Here is our fabric pull so far, but our final version of the block will be shared later this month.

  1. I have a love hate relationship with orange. A little orange goes a long way, but life would be much less fun without it. Love your pick up line, BTW. 🙂

Oh, so cheerful and sunny! I love it! And your orange fabrics are perfect. I can’t wait to see the finished block, because those oranges are going to pop against that swiss dot fabric!

Hello Roseanne, Until I began quilting, orange was one of those colors that I just never really liked. Yet as the years of quilts have piled up, the love of so many colors and variations of those colors has grown so delightfully. It is honestly amazing and so much fun! I look forward to seeing your block when you have it all put together. I took a day or so away from the stockings to play with the creation of an applique circle quilt. Have a marvelous day!!!

  4. I picked mine out, kind of sort of. Love yours and can’t wait to see it.

  5. Hi Roseanne! What a fun block! Your orange fabric pulls are going to be just “peachy” for this block. I am going to have to do a better job of checking In To see how your 2019 color challenge progresses. I’m sure it is going to be a happy and bright quilt that will bring smiles to all who see it!!😊😊❤️

After viewing your share today I am off to daydream of blue waters and high tides.

  7. Orange is so tricky to use and yet there it is in all of Nature’s glory in those lovely flowers.
Great challenge, can’t wait to see what you end up stitching.
