Once Upon A Table Topper Time . . .

. . . there were two table runners just wishing to be completed, languishing away with hopes of adorning a table or two. Being the good daughters, sisters, and aunts that we are, of course we wanted to make their dreams come true any way we could. And so . . . we finished them and are happy to share their short tales with you today.

Bunny Table Topper

We started this cute, little hexagon table topper in April – technically after Easter. The hexagon shape caught our eye thanks to our friend Vicki, who shared her snowman hexagon topper with a free tutorial. She planted the seed, we watered it by making our own version of the snowman table topper but that wasn’t the end. We not add some sweet little bunnies on a plaid background and pastel hues?!

Rather than cut wedges and then try to match the plaid pattern, I just made a paper template for the center hexagon shape. We drew out a bunny shape with pink inner ears, appliqued around them, and added a pastel narrow border.

Bunny Table Topper Quilting

What would a quilting blog be without some quilting photos?! The center area has been stippled excluding the bunnies so they stand out. While the narrow borders have a simple ribbon-type back and forth banding stitch, the outer borders hosts a loop-de-loop stitch. An aqua binding completes the topper that is all ready to sport Easter eggs or candy in 2021. There might just be another version of this on the back burner.

Red, White, and Blue Table Runner

Last May, we whipped up a red, white, and blue runner as a DrEAMi project just in time for the summer holidays. Oh, it was 2019! Just like that, it was snagged by our sister, Janice. When someone holds a piece to her heart and says how much she loves it, how can you not give it away?! We did and now we needed to make another.

Nearly an exact replica as the first one, I believe, except for the backing and possibly the binding. I like using the Buffalo plaid fabric as a backing for this application mostly because it matches nicely. We are set for the 2021 holidays as far as table toppers! These are two of our third-quarter finishes that we’ll be sharing on Instagram using #2020falq3finish.

Cute! Maybe one of these days I should try making a table topper or two. But I would have to clear off the table to use it.

Hello Roseanne, Both of your Table Toppers are wonderful!! I am surprised that they have not been “snagged” by someone in your family. The way in which you did the Hexagon Table Topper is a great idea, hats off to you for all of your brilliant planning for an adorable project! Your Star Table Topper is beautiful and will work brilliantly with several different Holiday events if you wanted to use it more than once. The more I look upon it, the more I want to create one. Great Job on both of these special projects and Thank You for sharing them with us. You once again have inspired me to create…the problem is where to fit it in. LOL. Have a fantastic day!!

    Hi Roseanne,
Aren’t you clever … making a template for the plaid … and no matching! The bunny table runner is adorable … especially now that it’s finished.
Your patriotic table runner looks great, too!
    Happy Quilting! 🙂
