Nine-Patch Finding Nemo Baby Quilt

We recently finished a nine-patch baby quilt.  I will list this quilt in our Etsy shop (found here if you’d like to look at our current offerings) because it was not made specifically for anyone.  Quilting is up next; therefore I will be choosing a machine quilting pattern.

Nine-patch Pattern

This is our go-to pattern with the Finding Nemo design in the five inch squares.  You can see the nine-patches which are made from white-on-white fabric in two different designs fairly well in this photo:

White-on-White

We chose two different white fabrics mainly to give the quilt some visual interest, and to keep it a nine-patch.  Other quilts we have completed use the feature fabric in the nine-patch itself with a low-volume/no-pattern fabric also used in the five inch block.  See the difference in these two blocks:

First, the one on the left has a duck hand quilted in the white block, the same white that was used in the nine-patch.  Second, the right picture shows the heart hand quilted on the feature fabric, and the nine-patch is all white fabrics.  Hmm, it seems like we like yellow!  HAHA

Machine Quilting Option

I have straight line machine quilted a few of these nine-patch quilts in the past.  I’m going to try something totally new this time.  I found a link to a spiral quilt pattern here, and it was done on a similar type of quilt.  Here is what it should look like:

I think this will be so nice looking when I complete it!  I will be sure to share an update with you.  ~smile~  Oh, and in case you are wondering, here is the fabric we’re putting on the back:

Hi Janice! Do you do spiral quilting? I am slightly afraid to do it . . . but then I think how bad can it be?! HAHA We’ll see how bad it can be, I guess. ~smile~
