I Really LOVE Thursdays #33

This is our 33rd post of things we love for the week.  We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color.  Several friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find inspiration.

Thursday

Love #1

Quilters r.o.c.k.  You already know this but here is a shout out for such a happy story.  It warms my heart and brings a little tear to my eyes, but I am a tender heart.  Carole at From My Carolina Home recently shared a post entitled Salvaging a QAL.  I thought to myself, how funny.  I had just been discussing this subject with another blogger, about how we stay motivated to finish up a QAL.  But this story has nothing to do with that at all.  The short synopsis is that a friend of Carole’s asked her if she would finish up some blocks and donate the quilt to charity.  Carole went WAY beyond that, finished the quilt beautifully and gave it to a very special recipient.  Please check the link for all the details – I don’t want to wreck the ending for you, plus you will enjoy the pictures.  ~BIG smile~

Love #2

Mother’s Day!  Even though we aren’t mothers, we were celebrated last Sunday.  We each received a wonderful bouquet of flowers, and some wonderful cards.  Here is a picture of the combined flowers, and Sue and I with her Mom after breakfast:

We had a wonderful day and we hope you did too!

Love #3

Kohl’s Cash!  You probably don’t have a Kohl’s store by you.  It is a department store like Macy’s, JC Penney, etc.  It was started by Senator Kohl from Wisconsin before he got into politics, and it has nice merchandise.  They have weekly ‘sales’ and when you spend a certain amount they give you Kohl’s Cash to use the next week.  I ordered some new clothes and then received $10 in KC.  No big deal BUT I also received $15 of Kohl’s Rewards (another gimmick).  What – $25 in free spending money that expired in seven days?!!  So, this leads to Love #4.

Love #4

Umbrella Stroller!  This could possibly be a part of our sweet boy’s post since it is obviously for him, but how cool is this?!  He is NOT to the point (yet) of walking next to us while we carry his stroller.  Nor do I really believe the lightweight claim as I wrestled the box into the house.  Also, there is some really small print that says “easy to put together.”  What?!!  What needs to be put together on an umbrella stroller?  I thought it was an open-the-box-and-use-it type of item.  Hmmm.  I have to figure this out because we are going for a walk on Saturday with our sweet boy!

Love #5

FMQ Challenge.  A fellow blogger friend named Linda shared a post yesterday about a FMQ challenge.  It is offered by the Central New Jersey quilting guild, and it has monthly techniques to try.  It actually started in January, but since it is a do-at-your-own-pace thing, I don’t think it matters that you join in late.  For example, January has a focus on Loops at three different levels:  beginning, intermediate and expert.  That is something I would probably do all three levels of, just for practice and to get their tips.  I see Ribbon Candy by Lori Kennedy is the expert level.  Ooh, I LOVE the look of Ribbon Candy and definitely need to practice it.

Love #6

Bat Baby at your service.  Oh wait, I need a quick nap.  It’s hard work being a super hero you know.  I didn’t tell him that Batman isn’t a super hero but is part of the Justice League.  We’ll clear that up when he wakes up. ~smile~

Bat Baby

It takes a lot of toy-looking equipment to serve as Bat Baby!  Don’t let those toys fool you.

That’s it for this week.  Oops, I almost forgot to say I love this baby!  We hope your week is filled with many blessings.  Happy Thursday!

Rats! My whole LONG comment just went away! So I’ll just say, yay for Aunties on Mother’s Day, and what a great mom picture that is.

  2. The flowers are so pretty! What a great way to spend Mother’s Day! Your sweet little super hero looks like he’s getting a much needed nap! I could use one of those. 🙂

The bat baby is adorable as ever! I hope the stroller isn’t too crazy to assemble, I feel like sometimes those things go smoothly and sometimes they’re a nightmare!

  4. Angie says:

“Easy to put together” – HA! That’s always a sign to me NOT to buy that item! I hope you have better luck than I do assembling things. Sigh … that Bat Baby is SOOOO cute! We used to shop at Kohl’s in Ohio and I do miss my Kohl’s cash!

All good stuff. That quilt along looks interesting.

  6. Sweet mothers day photo. Great links. Will check them out.

  7. I am wowed by your dedication to keeping up with posting your likes each week. Great links that I will need to check out. Good luck with that “some assembly required.”

  8. nanamickie says:

Batboy rocks! You go Dominic! Thanks for the great likes and glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day too!

  9. Kohl’s is the only place I buy clothes anymore, and only when I have a 30% off coupon, lol! How wonderful that your family celebrated you on Mother’s Day – I know from reading your blog, especially the bits about Dominic, that you deserve it!

  10. No Kohl’s here sadly but I love to hear about the bargains. Oh dear, expert level in FMQ…amazing but I do like making loops; I don’t know if I have enough years left in me to get beyond the beginner! Those strollers are amazing and will be worth the effort. Robbie, at 4, still loves super heroes. But he met a real Batman at the Comic Book festival last week and was a bit intimidated which surprised us. He said ” he looked like he stepped out of my tv” so maybe a little too real up close.
    Your sleeping Batman is adorable!

batbaby is outgrowing his socks! Wow, must be in a growing phase, hope he still fits in the stroller!! Light weight, sure, I’ve been told sewing machines are light weight and they are pretty heavy to me.
Gotta go check out your links, thanks for those. And can you believe #33??? wowie, time flies when you’re looking for all the nice things each week! I sure appreciate your friendship

  12. Shannon Fleming says:

  14. chrisknits says:

All wonderful things to love. But the last one is best of all!

  15. All I can say is, it is too bad that no one likes that little boy! Ha Ha Ha Ha Y’all will just have to give him to me and Sami and we will play with him for you. 🙂

How old is the baby? My grandson is 9 months and just a joy.
