I Love Thursday #85 Many Blessings

This is our 85th post of things we love for the week.  We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color.  Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find something to inspire you.  We’re also joining the linky party at Denise’s For The Love of Geese.

Butter Cookie Decisions!  A friend found these butter cookies at Dollar General, and I thought they are just SO cool.  Unsure of which route to take on a decision?  Go grab a cookie and get its opinion.  Hmm, the butter cookie thinks I should do it.  Okay, I agree with the butter cookie.  Or on the converse – should I have another cookie, butter cookie?  No.  Oh man, I guess I’ll just eat that answer and stop.  HAHA!

Flamingo Love.  Flamingos on a t-shirt!  LeeAnna, this one is for you but I found it quite funny myself.  This is such a fun shirt and could apply in so many different situations and even different groups of peeps.  Obviously, that middle bird is an instigator and should be promptly moved to the outside so she can only get one other bird friend in trouble.  But you always have to watch those quiet ones, don’t you?!!  I found that out the hard way with my innocent-looking bestie.  She’s not an honorable Doctor – nope, she earned that Ph.D. because she’s intelligent yet quiet and can easily get us in trouble.  Who knew indeed.

Another fun fact:  flamingo plural can be spelled as flamingos OR flamingoes.  What is the rule for making a word that ends in “o” plural?  I need to go to Grammarly to find out I guess.

Baby on a quilt.  Two weeks ago I shared a photo of Sue and me with sweet baby Alice.  Since then, she has returned home only to be missed by her grandmother and us.  Her mom, Lauren, happily shared a picture of her on the quilt that was made especially for Alice.  Way before Lauren and Joey got married we had found Frog and Toad fabric at our local quilt shop.  We bought it and saved it until the time that Lauren announced she was pregnant.  The result was the quilt that baby Alice is laying on below.  Lauren is reading the Frog and Toad book that was included with our love.  Alice is really listening, isn’t she?!!

Love these fabrics!  Since I’ve been working on quilting Rainy Day, I get a good closeup look at the fabric line.  I saw this combination of pieces and it really made me smile.  I love these oranges circles in different shades, the little itty bitty polka dots on both a pink and white background, and lastly the turquoise solid fabric.  Lots of sweet goodness in that one little area.  Gotta love Me and My Sisters – or at least we do.  Hmm, I see my walking foot needs to have the fuzzies dusted off of it.

Mosaic tile anything!  I saw this mosaic tile pot on Google.  Looking for a turtle mosaic, I quickly forgot what I was looking for when this photo was labeled, “My first.”  I would say this person has a knack for doing mosaic tiling if this is how the first project turned out!!  Holy moly.  If anyone has this talent, I would like one, please.

Beauty before age this week, and Addison says “Good Morning and Happy Thursday!”  Followed quickly by the next photo, no nap momma – I’ll just chew on this.  She is not sure she likes carrots, but she’ll share a half-hearted smile while she decides.  Early mornings are spent playing with Legos and always within the same two feet.  Oh yeah, and someone is thinking she should start crawling.  Plenty of room for groceries in that cart, right?!  Swimming with Daddy on the weekend, followed by some swing love is just the B.E.S.T.

Sports complex!  A last minute addition with exciting news for our area:  The Green Bay Packers secured a grant through the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program which plans to provide $250,000 to the Racine Unified School District to build a state-of-the-art football facility at Pritchard Park with artificial turf, proper seating, goal posts and other amenities.  The grant is made up of funds from the Packers, NFL Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).  This is an artist’s rendering of what the complex may look like.  Very cool and exciting news for all students, children and adults in the area and very generous of the Green Bay Packers.  This park is very near where Sue and I grew up as kids and it has been very underutilized for ages.  It sure is nice to see this type of progress without a political agenda involved (or if there is one, it’s hidden).

Did you see that Bart past away? He was my hero! I actually got to meet him in 1986, and gave him a birthday card, since we share the date. He was so sweet, and amazed someone knew his birthday. He sent me a card from Arizona thanking me.

What a quirky, fun set of likes! Especially digging the flamingo t-shirt. There’s an instigator in every group, otherwise, where would all the fun stories come from?

  9. Sally says:

Silly cookies. Love all the baby pics. What a fun shirt. And I love that flower pot, too!

  10. Colette says:

Hmmm cookies to make choices. OMG what if you eat the yes! Then you have only maybe and no! Great pics of Dominick, Addison, and baby Alice.

  11. Roseanne, those cookies are a hoot! (Maybe I need some!) I love Frog and Toad – so glad Lauren is reading to her little one – you know I love seeing that, and on the quilt you made – doubly good! The photo of Addison on her tummy looking right at the camera is the sweetest. I’m so impressed with your slide shows!

  12. Oh all the babies/toddlers in this post are so sweet. Us grandmothers are totally smitten. I think it’s really nice that you got to see your quilt put to use like that…so appreciated.
I too like mosaics and once upon a time made a patio table top that we had for many years.
I think sports are wonderful entertainment. We finally finished all seasons of Friday Night Lights and loved it and got to appreciate how much that sport is loved in the US. #7 sounds like a wonderful initiative.

  13. Love, love, love your loves this day!!!
Especially the butter cookies that remind me of my childhood where a staple store bought cookie was “Salerno Butter Cookies” Little did I know back then how authentic a butter cookie taste they were!
And Frog and Toad Adventures??? I have that book – it’s got multiple stories in it and I bought it after my kids were grown! Yes, we/they read Frog and Toad are Friends during their growing up! Would die to purchase some of that fabric.
And all those kiddie photos! Sigh.
It’s all good, Roseanne. Enjoy your MemDay weekend.
    😉

Love that tile pot, the shirt and the cookies II’ll have one now, please). But really love the babies. They grow so fast! Thanks for sharing.

  17. So many loves to 💕. The tshirt really cracks me up and there are so many times that would be appropriate! Those cookies should be at every meeting for major decisions – every one pull out a cookie and then the decision is made!

  18. So good to see chunky baby legs, and baby smiles today. I needed that. Thanks.
