I Love Thursday #62 – Happy December
This is our 62nd post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Bags ‘o hats! A good friend of ours now lives in the Phoenix area. She lives in a retirement village, and is quite active with some of the residents. Several of them started a knitting group, and they knit hats. Oodles of hats or a big ‘ole box of bags ‘o hats. One lady who has MS gets up and knits a hat a day! The knitting keeps her fingers more limber, and she loves that we take the hats. Take the hats??! Since we live in a cold climate, and we have a great many kiddos with a low socio-economic status we adore getting them. Sue works at five different schools, so we are going to break these three bags into five groups. Then she will get a few snapshots of kiddos modeling their new hats to send to the knitting group! Win/win and warm.
Candy collection! These pictures got buried on my phone and I forgot to share them. These are some of the 20 (!!) boxes of candy we collected as a school district after Halloween. They were all donated to two charities. The first is the Leukemia Research Foundation for a fund raiser they hold in early 2019. The second charity is a new one for us, but they send care packages to soldiers worldwide. It’s called Treats for Troops. Both were very thankful for the donation, and we saved many students (and staff) some cavities and calories. Another win/win!
You Crafty B! I always call myself a lucky B, and ironically a friend got me these cute pair of socks for fun. She was hoping I wasn’t offended, which I wasn’t. Of course, we try not to swear especially around Dominic. He will probably never see these though! I love the different colors and the stitching line. Doesn’t it look like it should be a quilt pattern?!
The Rolling Stones! I would love to go see them in June at Soldier Field in Chicago. However, not enough to wait my turn with 2,000+ (PLUS!!) people in front of me in line. Thank you for the opportunity, Ticketmaster, but no thank you. To Mick and the boys, maybe another time . . . or not.
Dominic, the little sweetheart, enjoys his books. Mom take him to Barnes & Noble for story time. He also discovered the joy of crinkling wrapping paper. Did you know it makes the same noise whether you walk or crawl on it?! How utterly fun is that. He even unrolled the wrapping paper himself. That was another learning moment – it just kept unrolling! ~smile~ ♥ ♥
That’s it for this week! We hope your week is filled with many blessings. Happy Thursday! See you next week with more loves.
