I Love Thursday #56 – Last for October

This is our 56th post of things we love for the week.  We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color.  Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find something to inspire you.

Love #1

Lake Michigan!  I have lived near the water all of my life.  Most of those years near Lake Michigan, and far fewer near the Pacific Ocean.  Last weekend, it was extremely windy.  A friend posted this fabulous picture of Lake Michigan on the Michigan side, taken by Joshua Nowicki Photography.  It was just stunning and I knew that you would want to see it, too.  WOW!  Can’t you just feel the power in that water?!!

Gaillardia!  This new-to-us plant we received from a good friend, Darlene.  They were just planted this year (!!) and have filled in so nicely.  I meant to take a picture while it was in full bloom but missed by just a day or two.  Next year I imagine they will be spectacular, don’t you think?!  They are happy little plants.

The Safe Family!  I think I have discussed the Safe Family before, but if not here’s a little recap.  Sue and I traveled with our friend, Rosalie, and her two kids, Lauren and Luke, a number of years ago.  We designated ourselves as the Safe Family so that collectively we would make decisions to keep us all safe.  While we haven’t traveled together recently, we have made an addition to the Safe Family when Lauren got married.  Joey is part of our posse through marriage, although I’m not sure he’s aware of his status.  Just last week, the Safe Family grew by another member when little baby girl Alice Amelia was born to Lauren and Joey.  Here she is in all of her 7 pound, 1 ounce and 17 inches long glory.  She is just SO very precious. ♥ ♥

I’ve got the cutest picture to share next week on the Frog & Toad quilt Sue made especially for Lauren and Alice. ~smile~

Love #4

Our boy Dominic started walking just last weekend.  I wish I could share a video with you, but I don’t want to put that sweetness on the internet.  He does rather run, actually, especially when he’s at GG.  Great-grandpa Tom holds his hand out and Dominic runs right to him.  Now that has to give him a great big smile, as it does me just thinking of it.  Here are a few other highlights to share of our sweet boy.

We start our day with quiet reading time – I really enjoy my books, Dominic says.  Then he feeds himself in his high chair, but mom helps out by cutting up the food into smaller pieces.  Then we get to jump on the couch for a bit and sneak peeks at ourself in the mirror.  Who is that handsome baby boy in that mirror anyway?!!  Lastly, Dominic is working on his Christmas list for Santa.  Oh, so many things to chose from.

That’s it for this week!  We hope your week is filled with many blessings.  Happy Thursday!  See you next week with more loves.  Our Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link for more quilting fun or in the sidebar of our website – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and share your likes/loves there!  We love to see them.  ~smile~

I knew the little Cutie Patootie would be in there! Walking – there’ll be no stopping him now. LOL Prepare to get all the exercise you could ever need. I love the picture of Lake Michigan, too. I’ve not seen it quite that … um, energetic? I don’t think I’d want to be on that bridge, not even in the shelter, though I presume it’s quite safe. Another wonderful Thursday! Cute new baby.

  8. Wow, that is quite a picture of Lake Michigan! I used to live very near Lake Ontario, but having been gone for many years, I tend to forget how amazing and powerful those lakes are. Love those pictures of the new baby and of Dominic! How wonderful that he loves books!

  9. Colette says:

Great pic of Lake Michigan. Oh the little one is fabulously adorable. What a little thing. Dominick walking! Oh say it isn’t so.

  10. I love seeing photos of your little man…guess we can’t call him a baby anymore. I love water…I grew up by the Ocean and now lived by a lake.

  11. Hi, so he’s really on the move now! Look out world! Too precious!
Safe Family…what a great idea. My older daughter is Amelia. I’ve made note of that flower as I have many, many spots that could use a plant like that.

The power of water is unimaginable. It looks like it could topple the lighthouse. There is so much sweetness in those children I’m getting a cavity just looking at them.

  13. Oh, walking! He’ll be into everything now! 🙂

  14. Yes! On Lake Michigan, but that’s no surprise, and yes on the Gaillardia; my mum put me on to them. I’ll be on Lake Michigan the second weekend in November. 🙂 Haven’t seen it from the east side in Michigan but the north of it in the UP is stunning. Baby girl is a beauty!! So glad she’s here safe (ha Pun not originally intended, but I love it). Another to love up right!

  15. Fun to see the Lake Michigan photo; I think its sister, Lake Superior had the same attitude just about the same time (she did extensive damage in Duluth). How is it that October is almost done?! So many fun photos in your post — those littles are adorable.

  16. sandradny says:

Cindy is going to freak out when she sees that Michigan picture — one of her favorite places in the world! It’s a stunning photo, thanks for sharing it. Love the baby pics (as always!)….

  17. I love the Lake Michigan photo — impressive! Baby Alice is a cutie and of course I’m super happy with my weekly dose of Dominic 🙂 Happy Thursday!!

  18. Vicki in MN says:

That water pic is amazing! Did you hear about the storm in Duluth, MN that demolished the beautiful boardwalk in Canal Park a couple weeks ago. Wendy told me about it and we had to look up pic’s online, Yikes! I had one of those plants, but mine didn’t do well:( You must have a green thumb!

  19. Connie says:

Once again you make my week with the little guy…Dominic is so dang smile worthy! He’s going to be a heart breaker…
