I Love Thursday #49 – September Already

This is our 49th post of things we love for the week.  We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color.  Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find something to inspire you.

Love #1

Regatta update!  Jan played along with the Regatta sew along earlier this year, but I never had a picture to share with everyone.  Isn’t this just lovely with the gray background and the variations in light yellow to orange?  I don’t know if you can see in this picture, but she quilted a continuous ribbon pattern in the one setting stone in every other block.  It looks really cool!!  You can see more of Jan’s talents on her Instagram account link above.  She’s also playing along in the second sew along that started on July 1st.

Nook tablet.  For Jeanette’s Sue’s mom, birthday we got her a new Nook tablet.  She has had a Nook for a few years, but it was starting to give her issues.  It was time for an update.  We set it all up for her before giving it to her, complete with some new books to read.  Sue also picked out a case for it to keep it clean and safe.  Jeanette does watch a certain one-year-old that loves electronics. ~smile~

Birthday celebrations!  Life is short, don’t you think?  We had the chance to celebrate both Jeanette (Sue’s mom) and Dominic’s birthday last weekend.  We had fun just talking and chatting with everyone.  It was SO much fun!  It seems that there is never enough time to hang out and chill, and the Labor Day weekend is meant for that.  Until I wrapped his present that morning, I couldn’t recall what we had purchased Dominic.  Mickey’s Roadster with LED lights in the front wheels was the winning present.  Dad actually picked it up a while ago – thank you Chris!

Clamp!  I have an almost perfect setup for quilting.  At least I think so, but I had a small issue with the weight of the quilt pulling it off my table.  Finally, we remembered to pick one up at the store when we were shopping last weekend.  It has changed my quilting life!  The quilt no longer falls on the floor, and the clamp can be rather easily moved.  It almost requires me using two hands to open it – I’ve already warned Sue that some day it may be a three-handed clamp.  HAHA!

Love #5

Dominic turned one on Sunday, the 2nd.  It’s hard to believe a whole year has gone by already since we’ve been blessed with his birth.  A lot of pictures to share, and I really held back.  I had a little trouble getting pictures with everyone, like GG and mom & dad.  I tried, and I happened to be sitting and standing in a good place for photos.  There are 11 of them – I couldn’t chose which ones to cut out!

First up is the new slide from Grandma and kids to play with and then the birthday boy (wanting my phone) just one.  Followed by listening to a boring card and wanting my phone again, and the excitement of a TRAIN toy that goes choo-choo.   The Sesame Street cupcakes, only one candle, I can touch this cupcake Mom??  Yay, let’s clap – this is fun!  Best of all are a few of the peeps that enjoyed his big day, like Grandma Janice and Grandpa Tom.  Next was Sue & I, trying to get his attention by looking at the light.  The newlyweds and their nephew wrapped up the fun.  Thank you for your tolerance with this non-quilting related topic!

That’s it for this week!  We hope your week is filled with many blessings.  Happy Thursday!

So much happiness in one post! And don’t you dare ever apologize for “non-quilting related topics”!! I love to see your peeps and it is really so nice to get to see people beyond their quilts! Thank you for being kind enough to share.

Isn’t it just the best to get the family all together for birthdays. A good time was had by all, I’m sure. And little Dominic a year old already. So wonderful to have seen his special first year through your photos.

Hello Roseanne, All of your “Loves” today are wonderful! The title alone makes one happy, so when you also add great photos of quilts in lovely colors and spectacular quilting it makes the smile grow. Next, as we read how you delighted a family member with a special gift that would bring them hours of reading pleasure again the smile grows. As you begin number 3 love, talking about family time my smile and whole self is beaming thinking of what fun you all were having. Number 4, I will have to go out and get a couple of the clamps that my hubby has and give those a try when I go to quilt another quilt, because they made me feel great about trying that idea. Jumping back to 5 and the love of your family ends a wonderful post with all smiles and happiness in your lives and in my life. Thank you for sharing! Have another spectacular love filled day!!

What a sweet little boy! I have a box of clamps to use in quilting.

  7. Love that Regatta quilt – the colors and that really cool ribbon of quilting going through it! I also love my Nook tablet! It’s so wonderful to be able to carry around tons of books for whenever you need them. The picture of Dominic with red frosting all over his face – priceless! Happy Thursday, Roseanne!

I never thought of a clamp instead of my usual blue tape- does anyone make an easier- to -use clamp? The ribbon quilting is so perfect for that design. Dominic is just too cute. What a fun post!

birthdays whether young or older are celebrations of us

Those clamps are real stinkers to open. I don’t have the strength to do it one handed and my tendonitis is not happy when I try. There are similar ones that came with my longarm to use as side clamps I just couldn’t. I got the wide potato chip bag clamps and use them instead. As always I enjoy the pic’s of D.

  11. I wonder if Little D knows how many fans he has out there in blogland? Haha! Cute photos. Jan did a great job on her Regatta; I love the continuous ribbon through the squares!

Thank you for the photo show of Dominic! Made my day! Happy Belated Dominic! Much good luck, good health and everlasting love to you in the future!
