I Love Thursday #190 Numerous Blessings

This is the 190th post of things we love for the week. We post each week along with LeeAnna from Not Afraid of Color and several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find something to inspire you. “From the fullness of His grace, we have all received one blessing after another.” John 1:16

Love #1

Woodpecker!! Well, well, well. Imagine our surprise when one afternoon we heard a woodpecker. It was a rare day that we could have the air conditioning off and the windows and doors open. We heard this odd hammering sound – tap, tap, tap. I looked out to see what was going on, and there was a woodpecker working on our porch post. I whipped out my peppermint extract spray – nothing but people seem to like the scent of mint according to Google. After covering the posts with a fine mist it seemed to not deter him one bit. Sue got the sand-weighted owl out of the garage, and that seemed to work. Those eyes would deter me, as well. It’s time to move up the aluminum or vinyl cladding that we have planned!

That’s the first time in the 12 years that we’ve lived in this house that we’ve ever seen or heard a woodpecker!

Love #2

An open heart and an instrument of peace! Amen to that. We are all different, which is a good thing. Learning tolerance and acceptance is what we are striving to teach our littles. Some of them are more open to those concepts but they are still young. We’ve got plenty of time to teach and set a good example.

Love #3

Streblow wooden boats! Last weekend, a collection of 35 wooden boats made locally in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin got together for fun and races. They were all made by Streblow. The original owner had passed about 10 years ago, but a faithful customer picked up the brand and continued the handmade craft. It was fun to see them race and gather together on a beautiful, sunny Fall day.

Love #4

Dominic has started at a new preschool, which he calls his rainbow school. He just loves going three times a week. While he is at school, Addison and Colt had a visit from the local fire truck. They got to check out the inside – they both look so little on that bench. The wooden train set we got Dominic for seems to be a hit with both D and A. The triple threat had some pictures taken and Chaser was very stingy with his smile that day.

Another day, the trio was out for a ride. Chase is sporting his new helmet to reshape his head. With the abrupt vehicle stop Dominic made, it seems it was a good thing Chaser had his helmet on! Addison and Gamma helped us trim some bushes and Addison can weld a broom like no other. Gamma has taught her well! Addison models her new Elsa costume while Chase nibbles on some teething crackers. Two-fisted just in case! Finally, our sweet 7-month-old Chase says, have a happy Thursday!

I have never seen a woodpecker anywhere…they remain a cartoon memory for me, lucky you! And I super love the pictures this week…especially the “blues” crew and the look on Chase’s face! Priceless! Especially compared to his smile at the end…what an incredible amount of joy those 3 spread to all of us watching them grow!

  2. So interesting about the woodpecker! So neat that the owl worked! Love seeing all those boats. The kids are growing like weeds! Love seeing them!

  3. Geez, I’m not sure why I couldn’t see your blog earlier this week! So nice to see the kiddos and that Chase has his new helmet on! The kids sure are getting big! Loving your positivity quilt and congrats on the a/c system! Stay well!

It was a woodpecker week – I saw one on the pole outside my study window eating what looked to be a rosehip. It’s a beautiful creature but not so beautiful when pecking at your house. The 3 musketeers are having fun as usual – love to seem them.

We have several varieties of woodpeckers here, including pileated. The little ones are particularly drawn to the cedar siding on our house. When they begin pecking, Wilbs goes on high alert. Fun to see the littles and all their adventures through the week!

OMG, Chase looks just like D!!! And Addison is so beautiful in her new gown. Looks like a lot of lovely loves!

A woodpecker on the house! How unusual. Although I did hear a sapsucker on a neighbor’s tin roof (it made quite a racket!). Excellent stuff.

  8. Vicki in MN says:

Oh gosh a pileated woodpecker, they are so cool-not when they are pecking on the house though! We occasionally see one around here, but mostly we just hear them. Our youngest grandson also had to wear a helmet like that for a while.

  9. I love woodpeckers, but have not had them pecking on my house! At our house we put out suet feeders and they peck on those instead. I love your like #2, Roseanne! It seems it takes a lifetime to learn to be accepting and tolerant of other people and all of our differences. Your photos of the littles are always so fun! Colt is getting so big!

Love reading about all your blessings!
I’m not sure I would call a woodpecker pecking at my house a blessing though!!! Glad the owl was able to scare him away.
The kidlets are growing and growing!!! So much!
    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing all of those loves. The boats are so nice. My father in law used to make a boat or two and would have loved seeing them. Ah, woodpeckers! I can hear one in the neighborhood from time to time. It stays across the street. I just never get to see him. I like Sue’s solution. Those littles are so precious. Glad Chase finally found his smile for the last photo. When the three sit together in the sun, their hair is all the same color. You can tell they are siblings! Have a great week (end).

  12. Wonderful loves!! Especially those beautiful littles! Gave me a smile this morning, Roseanne – thanks!!
