I Love Thursday #172 Prolific Blessings
This is the 172nd post of things we love for the week. We post each week along with LeeAnna from Not Afraid of Color and several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Dunkin’ Cereal. Have you heard of this or tried it? I’m not a huge cereal eater . . . and I cannot imagine a coffee-flavored variety. I like their coffee but I don’t know if I can get behind the branching out into breakfast foods. What do you think? It sounds just a bit too sweet for me but I can’t actually judge until I’ve tried it. That won’t be soon.
Soapstone marker! How is that Crate & Barrel has this soapstone chalk for $1.50 and other places sell it for much more? It is a great choice wherever you would use chalk, like marking for appliqué. How did I learn about this nifty trick? Why Laura at LC’s Cottage shared how she was marking her Garden Baskets project. Isn’t that just so nifty? This is the kind of thing I would love to ask my dad about – he was a welder for years. Did he use this product? Did he know his daughter would want to ask him about it 39 years after he passed? Amazing! The things you learn from your quilter friends are just that. Now, if only we had a Crate & Barrel nearby.
Chores! Necessary evils but sometimes you just want to skip the chores and get right to sewing. Right?!
All things baby quilts! I was led to a website that hosts a monthly linky party for baby quilts. In progress, finished, or imagined . . . as long as it’s baby quilt related. Michelle is the hostess at Michelle’s Romantic Tangle, and I’m looking forward to seeing what others link up for new baby quilt ideas. I shared our Jigsaw Puzzle and Vincent’s Garden free patterns this month . . . but you know we make oodles of baby quilts.
Our friend, Sandra, is starting her fifth QAL called Follow Your Own Path. The baby-size pattern is free in the most recent Modern By the Yard e-zine. Sandra also has a pattern (with a discount code) for the throw-size quilt with all the details on her website. Tuesday she shared the fabric requirements, and Sue and I are checking our fabric to see what we should use for this quilt-along.
It was a busy holiday week for all of our littles. Good Friday we gathered with the littles for coloring eggs. I think a good time was had by all three little ones, but especially Addison. Her technique for holding her two eggs in the dye until they were perfect worked well for her. It also colored her hands – one blue, one pink – for the holiday and many days to follow. Colt, on the other hand (no pun intended), has a good arm . . .
and he pitched his egg into the green bowl with just a little dent. Easter morning held baskets for the littles and adorable hairdos. Chase gave the Easter Bunny a run for his money in his cute outfit but was worn out by all the activity. The day came to an end on the big girl swing (Addi’s not a fan). With the weather warm enough to use the new water table, Dominic and Addi are fans of their new backyard.
