I Love Thursday #170 Bountiful Blessings

This is the 170th post of things we love for the week. We are happy to be back to posting along with LeeAnna from Not Afraid of Color and several additional friends also share on a weekly basis. Be sure to check them out – you will surely find something to inspire you.

Love #1 (A non-love, actually)

Spray disinfection. I know this is ongoing across the whole world and has been for a year. I purposely took out the picture of the person because, unlike Meghan M., I truly do NOT want to throw anyone under the bus. Seeing this aerosol spray disinfectant being used on chairs just makes me ill. This is something I became acutely aware of in fourth grade (just imagine how long ago that was!). I was the biggest nag about the kind of detergent we used, no plastics ever – only glass or aluminum that could be recycled, and recycle, recycle, recycle. The other bottle in her hand is non-aerosol – a much better choice. Alas, safety and caution win over the ozone layer at this time. Perhaps we can all be mindful of our personal choices – a wipe instead of a spray, soap and water instead of a wipe. We can make our world a better place one choice at a time. (Stepping down from the soapbox now.)

Love #2

Suez Canal in Egypt. I heard this amazing story yesterday about a very LARGE cargo ship completely blocking the Suez Canal near Egypt. Apparently, there was very high winds as the cargo ship, Ever Given, turned into the canal from the Red Sea. Look at all the containers piled on that ship!! Can you even imagine how much it must weigh?! Several tug boats were trying to straighten the Ms. EG and get her back on her true course. I can’t even imagine the number of ships this impacted. I used to plan shipments for CNH (Case New Holland) farm implements with several going to Dubai. This would have been a major setback that is beyond everyone’s control. WOW!

Love #3

World Wildlife Organization. This stunning elephant was recently sent to me at school as a bookmark. Three elephants going lengthwise on one side, and on the reverse side it says, “the earth has music for those who listen.” The quote is by George Santayana and I find that I share George’s outlook. Wouldn’t this make a stunning quilt or wall hanging? I have a great love and respect for elephants.

Love #4

Colt spent last Sunday enjoying the sunshine while swinging at the park with momma. Those dimples were on display for the whole outing! Speaking of outings, Dominic enjoyed the polar bears at the zoo. Addison enjoyed marching and running about at the zoo, while Chase mostly slept through the whole experience. He didn’t think it was all that exciting.

Chase does find it exciting to be playing with his mobile and getting love from his sister and brother. He also feels like he should keep an eye on Dominic and that glue. Just on the paper, Dude.

  1. Hi Roseanne. Wasn’t the ship in the Suez Canal crazy? I agree about the aerosol cans. They should be taken off the market. Oh the littles! They are all growing so quickly! Colt’s dimples are just the cutest.

  2. Those dimples are adorable! We use wipes at the hospital. No aerosol sprays!! I’ve heard about the ship stuck in the Suez Canal. No other ships that get by either. What a mess! I hope they can move it soon.

    Colt’s smile is wonderful!

Addison looks much more self assured at the zoo this time. OMG how can you not just adore Colt and those dimples?!?! As usual Dominick always looks so serious, exploring everything in the world. And Chase…..well he is adorbs. So sanitizer….we have a food grade one at work. I read the label one day. Not something I really want to be around, and I keep wondering about it more and more. I think some good old fashioned soap, water, and maybe a little Lysol liquid would do just as good of a job.

The elephant … oh the elephant … so beautiful!!!!
Can’t beat those dimples – too cute!

The babes are adorable, as always. I can’t do chemical sprays, VERY sensitive to cleaners and disinfectants. So wipes and soap/water for me. But I fear we are killing our immunities by disinfecting everything. So that’s my soap box. We are making resistant bacteria by over sanitizing. OK, I will stop hijacking your soap box. LOL

  7. I don’t mind your soapbox, Roseanne, because I’ve been feeling the same way! It’s been a year of making a lot more trash and using a lot less re-useable items, and I’m feeling guilt about it myself. Isn’t that cargo ship stuck in the Suez Canal a story? We’ve been following that, too. Love seeing your littles!

Hmm. Just heard about that ship on this AMs news and had to go find a story about it on the internet. Wow. I too dislike aerosol sprays and am surprised they are still sold. That elephant is fantastic. Let me know when you decide to make him, And the stars of the show, the four littles, really do make me smile. Have a great day. Hugs.

Colt is as adorable as ever 🙂 And I love that brightly colored elephant. The story about the ship in the canal is crazy. That ship is just a scale that is hard to conceive! Did they get it unstuck?

  10. Brenda @ Songbird Designs says:

Oh wow, Colt’s dimples are just gorgeous, along with those blue eyes!! Such a cutie, as are the other three. I love the pic of the three of them together at the mobile. So sweet to see them love on baby brother!! I love that elephant too!

  11. nanamickie says:

Yeh for my weekly dose of gorgeous children! Those Dimples!!! Wow! I can’t believe how big the kids are getting! Wishing you a happy and safe weekend dear Roseanne and Sue!

  12. Always fun to read your posts and catch up with the littles!
