I Love Thursday #168 Abundant Blessings
This is the 168th post of things we love for the week. We post along with LeeAnna from Not Afraid of Color and several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
This is our last Thursday post.
We just were blessed with 13.5 inches of snow over the weekend. Here is one creative mom’s sledding choice when her little guy wanted to get out and enjoy that new snow. I thought that was a fun option although I don’t know how it would be when it sunk into the snow more. The smile on this little guy is priceless. Clearly he was having a boatload of fun!
FOUR jackknifed semi-trailers on the Interstate had me quite thankful that I was able to work from home Monday morning.
Ugg. This has been me lately with no sewing energy during the week after work. It didn’t help that I’ve been reading a few good books lately.
My niece, Betsy, raised her hand and needed some help. She wanted to have a padded headboard made and she wanted the fabric to match the quilt that we made her.
We made her queen size quilt during the 2018 quilt extravaganza when we whipped up five of them during the summer. Obviously, we knew we couldn’t still find the exact fabrics that were chosen for her quilt but we thought we could come close. I wasn’t keen on the idea of ordering something online – who knew how it would match? So that prompted a shopping trip to Joann’s for some upholstery fabric. We both masked up, and I kept my gloves on and coat zipped up the entire time. Here’s the fabric we found along with some puffy batting we chose to make it nice and cushy.
It’s hard to capture the nice texture this upholstery fabric has as it’s a cross between linen and velvet. Doesn’t the new headboard look nice against her pale purple walls and with her quilt?!
Before they two littles moved out of their old house, Momma tried to get a nice picture for Gamma’s birthday. Capturing the three of these littles is truly a feat and I give Andrea kudos for even attempting it! Dominic pre-school was having a Hawaiian party last week. He was happy to model his new party shirt and didn’t mind one bit practicing the limbo before the fun day arrived. Addison has found a new chair, sitting on her brother whenever the mood strikes her.
Once in the old house and then again at Gamma’s house. I wouldn’t think Dominic would be all that comfortable – he’s too skinny and needs more padding. We needed to make a mask for Dominic which he happily tried on for me and modeled for Annie Sue. He’s a good hugger, too, as witnessed by giving Gamma some Dominic love. Finally, the dynamic duo went out to enjoy the 13.5 inches of snow we received. Although, Addison isn’t quite sure why on earth they were outside in the cold . . .
