I Love Thursday #15
This is our #15 list of our loves for the week and it happens to be the second one for 2018. LeeAnna blogs at Not Afraid of Color and shares her ‘likes’ every Thursday. She is getting all settled in her new home! Several of our friends also share on a weekly basis – check them out!
Love #1
Sunshine! Even on the coldest of days that we have enjoyed (??) lately, it doesn’t seem quite as cold when the sun is out. I get a few minutes of direct sun while sitting at my desk at work. About 5 – 10 minutes in the winter, and a good 30+ in the summer but is feels fabulous. It just warms my bones and makes me happy, and I don’t mind one bit not being able to see well for those short minutes. It doesn’t seem to have the power to warm up my car much though when the temperature is in the single digits.
Love #2
I interrupted my book series by David Balducci to read a new book in the Coffeehouse series by Cleo Coyle. The latest title is called Cold Dead Brew. These are a rather light read written by a husband and wife team, and I enjoy the setting and the characters. What I enjoy the most is all the things I’ve learned about coffee since I’ve been reading them. Over the series they discuss roasting techniques, different brewing methods, and the different coffee regions. There are also several recipes shared at the end of each book, and all of them sound delicious. I haven’t yet made any, but only because I forget about them once I’ve finished the book. There is also a website featuring her books that I believe have some or maybe all the recipes there.
Love #3
Dieting – can anyone love dieting?! I don’t really looooooove it, but I do like it. Once I get back into the routine of no snacks, no sweets, and lower carbs (I miss bread!!) it becomes much easier. I find and remember how much I love steamed broccoli with lemon juice – OMG it is good. And roasted veggies of any sort – yum. Recently I tried a kale salad at work with a simple vinaigrette and it was fabulous, so maybe simple is better for me. Anyway, we are trying to lose some weight so that we can try to keep pace with that new baby. An almost impossible task as who could possibly have that much energy, but we’re going to try.
Love #4
Planning a vacation! We are very blessed in that we have many had many different travel partners over the years. Most recently we have been going with Sue’s mom and dad. Last summer we drove to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and we had a great time (several quilt shop stops!). In the past, we have cruised with my brother and sister-in-law and another time with close family friends. This summer we are going to cruise to Maine, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. I have started to check on the ports as far as quilt shops, and have found that all four of them have some that we may visit. We are sailing on NCL and here is a recap of our itinerary:
Love #5
Well, my great nephew baby is growing so much. He had his four month shots at the end of last week. Now that his mom is out of school for a bit we don’t get to see him every week. What?!! So of course I volunteer to babysit for gym and grocery shopping events – drop him off any time! He likes Mickey Clubhouse – I’m not even sharing that song because it will stick in your brain all day. But we also got him dancing (well, I’m doing the dancing for him) along with Baby Shark, shared here from YouTube:
OMG – talk about an addictive song. But he is fascinated with it and you can’t help but sing and dance along . . . ~smile~ Thanks Rosalie for sharing this song with us. 🙂
Love #6
I have to share Dominic photos, right?! So here is the latest of our sweet baby boy. Oh how I love him! ~smile~ He continues his trick of no nap, momma, no nap. He rolled himself across the living room to better see the football playoffs. He’s not partial to any specific team, apparently. He rebounded from his low-grade fever after his shots without issue and is ready to play and chatter. Those fingers . . . always busy!
That’s it for this week! I hope your week is filled with many blessings. Happy Thursday!

That baby is adorable. I can see he would easily steal anyone’s heart! Your cruise sounds wonderful. I have a friend in Nova Scotia – but that’s like saying I have a friend in Texas. LOL I can’t believe there’s still some form of Mickey Mouse Club! I guess somethings just go on forever!
Hi Susan,
He just LOVES Mickey! Especially the Hot Dog song. ~smile~ Roseanne
The cruise sounds fun. Most of the time I eat low carb too, lots of salads. Wish my weight showed it. LOL I agree cold snowy days with blue sky are awesome.
Hi Colette,
Low carbs seems to be effective for most people. Now if bread wasn’t a carb I would be fine for the rest of my life. ~smile~ Roseanne
We, too, try to eat low carb most of the time, and I’ve discovered I love roasted veggies also, but I do miss bread and pasta now and then. Your book recommendations are always right in my favorite genre, so I’ll have to put this one on my list! Your cruise plans sound wonderful!
Hi Diann!
We can be book twinnies! I think you’ll like the Coffeehouse books and there is a bunch of them to get through. I have a few more to share next week because the library just sent me a few more. My Baldaccis are on hold for now. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne
those widdle hands with dimples!!!
dieting… you made it very attractive… made me crave broccoli and roasted veg which I totally love. Of course I totally love bread but carbs are a downfall… slippery slope to more carbs, then sugar. One summer as a bight young thing, I visited PEI to stay a month on a farm near the ocean. What a grand memory, and of the boyfriend of the time. Can you believe how time flies? You’re on I Like #15!!! SO glad you are! LeeAnna
Hi LeeAnna,
I know – those widdle hands with the dimples! I just want to kiss them. He puts them in his mouth ALL THE TIME so last time I said let me see how good those taste. He was so surprised and started laughing – a deep little belly laugh. ~smile~ Roseanne
That Shark video is super cute! We used to sing a version of that song in Girl Scouts and my niece and nephew love it now. IT really is a fun way to get everybody up and moving! And Dominic is just precious!
Hi Shannon,
Well, you’ll get no argument out of me about D. I’m not sure if he’s laughing at me when we’re dancing or if he’s enjoying it but I’m going with the later. ~smile~ Roseanne
Huzzah for sunshine! And yes, I agree with getting back to normal eating. My body is happier with the greens I’m eating (although there’s still more cookies in my diet than usual). Happy likes!
Hi!
Those cookies are still hanging around our house too but I have been ignoring them. They NEED to go away now. ~smile~ Roseanne
It’s so fun reading your weekly “loves.” I especially “love” the, photo of Dominic. He looks like he has really grown. So fun. Sounds like you will have a wonderful vacation! 🙂
Hi Cindy,
I could just gush over little DJ but try to keep it to a minimum. I know – minimum?!! – give the boy his own blog. HAHA! Cruising – l.o.v.e. it. Never enough! ~smile~ Roseanne
Never!
Hi,
Good luck with the dieting/eating well. I try to do that for bout 90% of my food. You have a great incentive there to be at your optimum energy levels. 🙂
This time of year, folks here are making southern trip plans..looks like you are going north. It will be wonderful I’m sure and the planning is so much fun.
Enjoy your Thursday!
Hi Jocelyn,
I love the cooler weather . . . and Nova Scotia qualifies for that I believe. Although during our recent cold snap I thought Arizona and the 70s sounded pretty darn good. ~smile~ Roseanne
#5…my four year old nephew watches MMCH! So funny and yes that song will imprint in your brain!
Hi Wendy! Yes, thank you, I will now be humming “baby shark hmm hmm hmm” and go on to mama shark. Heehee! That really isn’t a bad thing since it makes me think of that baby and smile. ~smile~ Roseanne
So true! My babies are grown and I ❤️ my little Chapman Blondies! (My nieces and nephews)
We just visited Maine for our 30th anniversary this past September. Loved it, such beautiful scenery and quaint little towns (and yummy seafood). We visited a few quilt shops, not sure if any would be close to your itinerary.
Hi Wendy,
I know this cruise is just a taste of Maine – I really want to drive back and really visit. Oh, the seafood alone must be fabulous! I can’t wait. ~smile~ Roseanne
You will want to go back, I’m sure!
