I Love Thursday #149 Beaucoup Bénédictions
This is the 149th post of things we love for the week. We post these loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color. Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out. You will surely find something to inspire you.
Love #1
Dogs! I love dogs and I follow a few online. Bella the dachshund, and Rose the yellow retriever are two whose antics I enjoy. I also follow a blog with two cats, Molly and her long-suffering brother, Buddy. This meme made me laugh as I can just imagine this happening.
Love #2
Reading! Sue and I both LOVE to read. The pandemic may have pushed us even more into that past time, but nevertheless, we read every single evening for at least 30 minutes. Dolly Parton has a free-book program that anyone can sign up for. All three littles are signed up and get a book in the mail every two months or so. Of course, my friend Amazon is happy to send them books as well. Whenever I feel the urge, I pop on their website and send a few to them. The mail person for Dominic and Addison is now asked if she has mail for them?! How sweet is that? She likes to be able to say, yes, I have a book for you. ♥ ♥ ♥
Love #3
Baby Colt and tummy time. Colt has spent a little time over at Auntie Andrea’s house during the week. He JUST started to crawl and is really enjoying pulling on the tags on the Tummy Time quilt. While it was originally made for Addison, Colt loves to get ahold of those tags and give them a good yank or chew.
Love #4
The Addster and her brother spent a family day at the Milwaukee Zoo last Friday. To say that Dominic enjoyed it is a huge understatement. Genuine awe was displayed as the rode the train, and he just stuck his head out the window to not miss anything. He loved the giraffe that he called a horse and especially the elephant. With his cup in hand, he was willing to stare down the big “horse” for hours.
Just to prove she was indeed present, Addison did sit on the bench next to a stone lady and her puppy. At least it didn’t lick her. She also rode on the train next to her daddy, quite safely. Most of the time, though, she was happy to ride in the stroller and enjoy a few snacks. Apparently, she isn’t big on smelly animals no matter how cool her brother thinks they are. Lastly, Addison says there is always room in momma’s chair even if it stacked with oodles of blankets to keep her out of it. Give that girl an inch . . . and she’ll take a mile.
Finally, why does our sweet boy think he can climb on the bouncy ball holding a spoon in his hand? Could you foresee the next photo?! He still had the darn spoon in his hand as he went down! We’ll have to give him a lesson on HOLDING the bouncy ball before you climb on so it doesn’t skitter away. His 18-month-old sister can, of course, climb onto anything without issue. Go figure.
Love #5
Care and Hope. Those are the two focus words for my boss this year and she shared them during the opening-of-school Zoom message. These four-letter words are something I can hold on to, as well. They are trying to take care of all the staff and students as best as they’re able to, and still offer some hope for better things to come. There may be some movement between in-person and remote learning, but we’ll all get through it together. At least that’s the Hope, right?! Please take care and stay safe and healthy.
Love #6
I’ll leave you with a giggle for the day. You can’t make this stuff up – someone actually printed a sign with this important message. Geez. Gotta love it, right?!
Join us each Tuesday for our hosted linky party called To-Do Tuesday. The meeting room sign is hilarious!
I didn’t realize you worked for a school, or at least your boss does. What do you do?
The zoo and kids is a fun thing! Mine favored the Carousel.
What a great meeting. LOL I love that 2 kiddos can be so different in how they play. My son and daughter were different also. Love the free books idea from Dolly. Reading is just so important throughout our lives but especially the early years.
We could all use care and hope! I don’t know how teachers are managing in these difficult times. My sincere respect and appreciation goes out to all of them.
A trip to the zoo is always fun. Our kiddo still likes to go even if she is an adult (in training she claims). We have a similar single occupancy meeting room at work, but the sign says “Capacity 1, Introverts Only”.
That would be an interesting meeting for sure with only one person! I love that you are sending the books to the little ones and they are enjoying reading and getting packages in the mail.
I think we’re all reading more. It’s a great escape! What a silly sign! I still enjoy the zoo. It’s always a fun time. The kids are growing up so fast!
Lovely likes as usual. Can you believe you are up to 149. So glad to see Colt enjoying that special quilt and the kids on their special outing. Reading to them is so important too and it’s nice the two of you share that past time. Lots of chatter here about how to manage the new school year which starts in September. It will be interesting to see how it gets sorted. Have a great weekend!
Oh Roseanne – not sure which I loved more – James Patterson’s quote or all of the zoo pictures. Big horse indeed! Doesn’t someone little have a giraffe quilt? As always friend, thank you for making my week!
Oh, such a fun visit to the zoo! I love the expressions on Dominic. Tell me about the tummy time quilt, or lead me to the blog on it, I don’t remember it and my grandnieces (the younger one) might need it!
Loved the meeting sign! Sometimes I’ve been in meetings where I wish I were the only one in the room! And the dog meme is great! I also am a big reader mostly on my Kindle. I grew up in a family of readers, and it’s one of life’s greatest pleasures for me. Have a great day, Mary.
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog today! I am so pleased that both of our kids (24 and 22) are readers – all that night-time reading paid off! In fact, our daughter lists it as her number one relaxation activity! Once we have grands, I am sure we will discover that they have vastly different likes and talents – but I am in with Dom on the zoo! Care and hope – we can never have too much of both!
Care and Hope and a sense of humor (as evidenced by that sign’s unintentional effect!) help a lot to make life more liveable.
Oh and when my kids were “littles” those bouncy balls were called “Hoppity-Hops”!!!!
Fun stuff!
I love that dog cartoon! And the meeting room sign. Definitely the best thing about zoom meetings (especially boring work ones) is the knitting….. The kids are so cute, I love ribbon tug tags on baby blankets, and it’s so fun to see them enjoyed!
Thanks for sharing your littles! I miss ours so much! I need to check out Dolly’s program. It would be fun for J and B in Florida to get some books. And R and I in Arizona too,
I had to grab a copy of that meeting sign, Too funny!
I thought I wrote a comment earlier, but it seems to have disappeared! What I wanted to say was that sign for the meeting room made me laugh out loud! And Dominic’s expression of amazement at the zoo was just precious. Making sure that kids get books in their hands is the best gift – so glad you (and Dolly) do that for your littles, Roseanne!
That would be a very boring meeting with one person in the room! LOL I love dogs, books, and that saying on the Starbuck’s cup. Sweet pics of the family! Thanks for sharing on this goodness!
Love the sentiment on reading. Which is why Christmas gifts usually include a book or two. So do some birthdays. Colt and crawling, in no time he will be up running with the big kiddos. Glad that Dominick enjoyed the zoo, sorry that Addison is not too impressed. Great pic with her and the statue though. Oh poor Dominick, that casted arm took a hit too. Great likes as usual
Reading is like breathing. We didn’t have TV in our house until I was about 9 and so books, newspapers and magazines were our recreation plus playing outdoors. A trip to the library was (and still is) a treat. Hope and Care sound like the best 4 letter words to adopt. And thank you for all the photos of the three littles. My daughter was just like Addie when she was little. Trouble should have been her first middle and last names. And she did everything her big brother did. Stay safe because I care about you. Hugs!
Oh, Roseanne, that sign did make me laugh! The picture of Dominic looking out the window at the zoo with his mouth open is just precious! And yes, yes, yes on getting books into kids’ hands – so wonderful that you (and Dolly Parton) are doing that for your littles.
now that’s my kind of meeting… short and sweet, unless I put myself to sleep that is.
Love your loves!!! The littles are so entertaining! My favourite pic of them this week is D’s face in “awe.” And … of course, I had to laugh about the meeting room! 🙂
Good Morning, Roseanne … I always love visiting you and the Littles … thank you for the smiles and the giggles … 🙂 Pat
LOL! Meetings would be quicker if that was always the case. Reading! I’d be lost without my books. SO glad I brought one with me to the hospital – was good company for the long hours. Amen for Care and Hope.
I’m a firm believer in reading to littles; it’s one of my favorite memories of my kids when they were small. Reading and doing silly voices while reading – sometimes we would read for the entire day, chapter after chapter. So buy books for you and for the littles! Care and hope are good words for all of us. I hope you have a good school year! Thanks for sharing the fun photos of the littles – always fun to see their antics!
a one person meeting huh – lol – maybe there is a computer in there for zoom? 🙂
LOL There are some people who truly do need to hold a meeting with themselves! Loved the pictures of the little ones…brings back memories of my son and the zoo…all 3 are growing so quickly, it’s amazing to watch them! And a privilege…thank you for all the smiles throughout their changes!!
Yes to more reading! Care and Hope – we all need those. Blessings on the new school year. It’s going to be an adventure.
