I Love Thursday #140 – Blessings Plenteous

This is the 140th post of things we love for the week.  We post these likes and loves each Thursday along with LeeAnna on her blog at Not Afraid of Color.  Several additional friends also share on a weekly basis – be sure to check them out.  You will surely find something to inspire you.

Thursday

Love #1

Weigela prettiness!  Last Fall, we replaced one of our weigela bushes near our front door.  It was mostly dead and I had hoped it would rally during the summer but that was not to be.  When you put in a much smaller bush you often wonder how it is going to flourish during the winter and if it will even bloom as it should.  This new weigela bush basically told me not to worry – it has this.  Isn’t it just a pretty red?!

Love #2

Bird covers!  Operation Bird was called into action recently at our house after we recently discovered a bird in our bathroom vents.  We believe one bird happily took the straw laying around at the new house being built next to us and labored over two nests.  Thankfully, our friend Ken removed the nests for us and installed these guards.  Just imagine our surprise when a bird poked its head out from the vent shortly after this picture was taken.  It appeared as if she was saying, yes?  It’s polite to knock first before destroying my home nest.  I am 100% certain I would have fallen off the ladder when that bird peeked out.  Egad.

Love #3

Last Sunday was Colt’s first Father’s Day and, of course, his dad’s first as well.  Colt’s momma caught daddy giving him some kisses, and then they both posed for a sweet photo.  Oh yeah, Colty got his first baseball glove in Cubs colors handily enough.

Love #4

Dominic and Addison love that the summer is here!  Dominic enjoys ‘swimming’ in Gamma’s bigger pool and Addison is just busy with all the pool toys.  The two of them are still playing mostly nicely.  When it’s back to their own backyard, they both embrace the water toys there as well with plenty of sunscreen on.

Addison is modeling the All American Girl look and she’s ready for the 4th of July with her red, white, and blue sunglasses.  Rock it, girl!  Uncle Billy stepped up to help both littles master t-ball.  Both of them had solid hits that would definitely get them on first base.  Finally, all of that activity warranted fun bath time with delighted smiles.  Splashing is required!

Join us each Tuesday for our hosted linky party called To-Do Tuesday.  Our other Linky Parties can be found by clicking the link above or along the sidebar on our website for more quilting fun – check out what our friends are up to.  Like/follow us on our Facebook page and you can share your photos of what you’re working on.  We would love to see them!

With all the trees around, doesn’t it just shock you when birds choose such out of the way places for a nest? Love the kiddie pools – maybe I need to get one of those! Happy Fourth of July!

I would hate for a bird to be living in my vents. It’s kind of scary! I’m glad you knew someone who could help you get rid of them. Love the weigela bush! I’ve never seen one before. The kids are so cute! As usual!!

Love your likes and today I love Sydney’s quilt! You go girl! The kiddos are getting SO BIG! I think that bird situation would have unnerved me a bit, especially when it stuck it’s head out !!! Have a wonderful day!

  5. Kate Swallows says:

It’s amazing where the birdies (and the squirrels) can get to in your house. Hope the guards work. Looks like the kiddos are in full summer mode and having fun.

  6. Mary says:

I would so freak about the bird after the fix! Colt is growing so fast and dad looks pretty happy. I’ve never heard of that bush before but tHat red is stunning.

  7. As always a treat to see those kiddies. Thanks so much for sharing.
My friend had starlings in her vent but it took her a while to figure it out…she kept hearing strange noises in her family room. It was a neighbor who pointed out what was happening and luckily friends went up the ladder and cleaned it out and put wire mesh over the hole.
    Just love that red weigelia.

  8. Sally says:

Never heard of weigela bushes, but they are pretty! Sheesh – the flaps weren’t enough to keep the birds out? I’d have been surprised, too, if I had seen it peeking out like that!

  9. Vicki in MN says:

I love that you always share the kiddos with us!! Don’t you just wish that you had even half their energy!!! I know I wish I did:) We went biking in the gorgeous sunshine today and I am pooped!

  10. Colette says:

I had that same experience in my bathroom vent. Never made it into the house, but my vent is pretty high, so the youngsters took care of it. Love Weigela and the smell is awesome. Great pics of the littles. They are all growing so fast.

  11. Rochelle Summers says:

Another great photo laden post. I love the pictures of the littles … all three littles. The flowering bush is great. I’ve been enjoying the honeysuckle on my walks and thinking about putting one in my yard. Also Russian Sage with its purple flowers. Hmm. Had bird problems one year with the a hole in the fascia and the birds getting into the attic area. I could hear them scampering around and imagine the mess they were making. Got that taken care of !!

  12. lapaylor says:

Oh my word! If a bird poked out after I thought it was empty, I’d freak! Birds are using our house as a flop house all over the place. And our patio is the highway, they fly right through almost hitting us on their way. The drivers are so bad here!

  13. Susan Nixon says:

Babies are always adorable and so are toddlers … at least in pictures. LOL I would have fallen off the ladder, too! The things we never think about that happen!

  14. Your new bush with the red flowers is really pretty, Roseanne! The bird making a nest inside the bathroom vent is (sort of) hilarious! How nice to have a helpful neighbor like that. Cutie Colt and dad, and that looks like a fun pool, too. I would be tempted to get in it myself!

  15. Always a smiles-evoking video. 🙂 Red weigelas are my favourite. Now you’ve reminded me of one more ‘like’ I need to add! Cool bird covers, who knew!

  16. Denise says:

I wouldn’t have fallen off the ladder because I never would have climbed it. That would have freaked me out having a bird peeking at me.Looks like you had a great weekend.

  17. Hope your day goes well today! Looks like the littles are enjoying summer to the fullest!

  18. karenfae says:

those darn birds will find the darnedest places to build their nests – I remember a month of so ago hubby left the workshop door open while he had been going in and out of it for hours and I saw a bird fly in with straw in it’s mouth and had to tell him to either keep the door shut or he was going to have to be looking for a nest and keeping a window open so they could get out.
Love the kids – your son and his son so nice!

  19. We have the bird thing too this year. First time in 10 years! So bird-lady coming soon to our house to fix….gives me the creeps things alive in my house besides people and invited 4 legged animals. That pool is awesome!

  20. Connie says:

So cute! Thank you for my weekly smile to the heart! And I have never seen a weigela bush around here…very pretty!
